We ensure that each student receives really personal attention. We arrange excellent host family accommodation, mostly within walking distance of the school. The school is open after normal school hours from Monday to Thursday until 10.00 p.m. which enables students to use both leisure and self-study facilities at almost any time without extra charge. Students can also use the 2 kitchens to cook for themselves if they wish, and tea and coffee, as well as broadband internet/e-mail access (including wireless for students wishing to bring their own laptops), are provided free of charge. Students who take full advantage of these features do not need to spend a lot of extra money in the evenings or at weekends. CES is very proud of our vibrant social and cultural programme for afternoons and evenings. The social programme is specifically designed to help you to practice and improve your English and also learn about and see more of England and Oxford. Most activities include cultural visits from museums to cathedrals. Fun things like pub nights, restaurant nights and day trips to other beautiful parts of the country are also organised, allowing you to experience the whole country. CES Oxford's location is easily accessible by bus, cycle lanes and taxi. Who needs a design degree when you've got scissors, tape, and yesterday's headlines? Our students transformed newspaper into runway-ready looks, and the result was pure creativity (and chaos) in the best way!!

🌍🍽️ International Food Night at CES Oxford! 🍽️🌍

Our adult students brought a taste of home to Oxford, and what a feast it was! From spicy to sweet, familiar to totally new, our International Food Night was a true celebration of the incredible mix of cultures we have here at CES.

Huge thanks to everyone who cooked, shared, and tasted their way around the world with us tonight. Food (and music!) really is the best kind of language exchange!

It is with the greatest sadness that we learnt of the death, on Saturday, of Chris Vernede, wife of Robin, the founders of the school here in Wheatley. In 1983, they turned what was once a semi-ruined building into the handsome, thriving place it is now. Chris was actually the very first person I ever met in Wheatley. Having been offered the job of Principal back in 2012, Chris and Robin invited me to have a look at the place before I accepted. It was a warm, sunny Sunday and the only person I saw as I spied a look at the building was a very elegant lady, hair puled back. warm smile, walking towards me. The usual village "Good afternoon", of course, but shockingly friendly to a city boy fresh from a job in anonymous Tokyo. An hour later, I knocked on the door of Robin's cottage, very nervously, wondering what they would think of this urban interloper. And there she was, the same lady, elegance, the huge smile, the warm welcome, standing at the door. "Oh, we knew it must have been you!" she said. Of course she did. This is Wheatley where no stranger goes unnoticed. She made one of her very famous teas, cakes and salads, gently scolding my poor appetite. We saw each other many times after, over many years and she was always the same; incredibly kind, incredibly welcoming, incredibly gentle. She built a wonderful place here at the school with Robin, welcoming thousands of students from every country of the world, always I would guess with that same smile, that same kindness, that warmth. Buildings have memories and carry a trace of those who were there before and her kindness remains here. Her generosity of spirit is woven into the very fabric of the building she helped save, I felt it immediately on that first day and ever since. Our deepest sympathies to her family and those who loved her. From all the many thousand nervous and culture shocked students you set at ease, and from the skinny city boy who found himself at your door in 2012, thank you for your kindness. We will miss you.
