Our Big bears have been developing their fine motor skills by using hammers to tap golf tees into our pumpkins 🎃
We spoke about how we had to use the hammers safely, and together the children came up with the words “careful”and “safe”. We ensured we did ‘little taps’ and held the tee at the bottom, against the pumpkin, so that we wouldn’t catch our fingers! 🔨
Big bears showed amazing concentration and hand-eye coordination skills when tapping holes into the pumpkin. Well done!!! 👏

🧸🧺 TEDDY BEARS’ PICNIC! 🧺🧸

The children were invited to bring in teddy bears to enjoy a picnic with us. Some of our children and their teddies headed out on a nature walk, enjoying their picnic along the way and exploring the great outdoors. 🌿🐻

Meanwhile, our other children enjoyed their teddy bears’ picnic here at nursery, making the most of some lovely time together. 🧺🧸

Today, the children have been busy developing their baking skills for our bake sale in aid of Stand Up To Cancer. 🧁

From exploring ingredients, mixing and decorating, to developing mathematical language and skills — all whilst having fun! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Ewan made some bakes too — ones that had been made safely in the kitchen, away from some sticky little hands! 🤭

This week, we will be fundraising in aid of Stand Up To Cancer on Friday, with all donations going towards Cancer Research UK. The money raised will help fund vital research, as well as support the development of new treatments and technologies for people affected by cancer.

Our team have planned lots of fun activities throughout the week, and we would love for you all to get involved and help us raise as much as we can! 💛

🫟 MESSY PLAY DAY! 🫟

Today was our Messy Play Day! We had lots of messy fun throughout the day — even more than normal! 🙈

From squishy, gooey activities to plenty of sensory fun, the children had a fantastic time getting involved!

🧚‍♀️ We had a very special visit from the Tooth Fairy this week! 🦷✨

Earlier this year, we joined Derbyshire’s Toothbrushing Programme to help promote good oral health and support our children in developing healthy habits. 🪥

Kerry came to visit us and shared a lovely story and fun activity with the children, teaching us all about how we can look after our teeth and help prevent tooth decay. 🦷📖

Kerry also checked that we are following the programme correctly. The children aged 3 years and over should use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste, whilst our 2-year-olds should use a smear, about the size of a grain of rice. The children were confident in showing Kerry what they know! They could tell her that we should brush our teeth for two minutes, making sure we brush each and every tooth. 🦷⏱️

✈️ Next stop, Asia! 🌏

The children enjoyed exploring some of the different prints, languages and text from countries across Asia while learning about traditional clothing and the lifestyles of other cultures. 🪷🥻👘🥢🧧🏮🎎🎐

The children then helped Ewan to make onion bhajis, which we enjoyed as a delicious starter at lunchtime! 😋

Along the way, we developed our communication and language skills, explored similarities and differences between cultures, and encouraged curiosity about the world around us. 🌍
