🧚‍♀️ We had a very special visit from the Tooth Fairy this week! 🦷✨

Earlier this year, we joined Derbyshire’s Toothbrushing Programme to help promote good oral health and support our children in developing healthy habits. 🪥

Kerry came to visit us and shared a lovely story and fun activity with the children, teaching us all about how we can look after our teeth and help prevent tooth decay. 🦷📖

Kerry also checked that we are following the programme correctly. The children aged 3 years and over should use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste, whilst our 2-year-olds should use a smear, about the size of a grain of rice. The children were confident in showing Kerry what they know! They could tell her that we should brush our teeth for two minutes, making sure we brush each and every tooth. 🦷⏱️

Thank you for visiting us Kerry, we look forward to your next visit! 👋🏼🧚‍♀️💫

✈️ Next stop, Asia! 🌏

The children enjoyed exploring some of the different prints, languages and text from countries across Asia while learning about traditional clothing and the lifestyles of other cultures. 🪷🥻👘🥢🧧🏮🎎🎐

The children then helped Ewan to make onion bhajis, which we enjoyed as a delicious starter at lunchtime! 😋

Along the way, we developed our communication and language skills, explored similarities and differences between cultures, and encouraged curiosity about the world around us. 🌍

We called back home to celebrate one of Britain’s best-loved traditions – Wimbledon! 🎾

The children created their own tennis racquets, using threading and sticking techniques, before putting them to the test with balloons. What a great way to develop both fine and gross motor skills.

Of course, we couldn’t celebrate Wimbledon without enjoying its famous strawberries & cream! 🍓 We washed and chopped the fruit and had a go at whisking the cream, giving us the perfect opportunity to explore an exciting STEM concept as we observed how the cream changed from a liquid into a much thicker consistency. This supported the children’s curiosity, prediction skills and scientific thinking. ☺️

Next, we hopped over to France 🇫🇷 just in time to enjoy the celebrations of Bastille Day. The children got creative and constructed their own versions of the famous Eiffel Tower. 🗼

Then it was on to Spain! 🇪🇸
We had lots of fun with our maths-based activity, measuring and pouring ingredients to create our own child-friendly version of sangria. 🍹 We also embraced the warmer weather by making beautiful Spanish-inspired fans. 🪭 While exploring traditional Spanish music, we even made our own castanets. 💃🎶

Phew! That was a lot to fit into our European adventure! 🌍

Stay tuned to see where our travels take us next..! ✈️

✈️ Our first stop was Mexico! 🇲🇽

As one of the host nations of the World Cup, Mexico was the perfect place to begin our trip around the world! ⚽️ We had so much fun learning about the country through a variety activities & experiences.

🌮 The children prepared a delicious Mexican-inspired feast, developing their knife skills safely as they chopped fruit and vegetables to make their own salsa and guacamole. 🥑

🇲🇽 We explored the colours of the Mexican flag through a range of sensory activities and created our own colourful ribbon streamers.

The children got creative by making Mexican-inspired maracas using dried beans and decorating them with bright, colourful tissue paper. 🪇

🌵 Using green playdough and golf tees, we created spiky cacti, helping to strengthen our fine motor skills.

🎶 We also enjoyed listening and dancing to Mexican music before finishing our fiesta with a piñata! 🪅 It was wonderful to see the children cheering each other on, and everyone got to take home a special sweet treat. 🍬

We wonder where we’ll be travelling to next!…✈️🌍

🗺️ Our July theme has been ‘A Trip Around the World! ‘🌎

Throughout the month, we’ve been inspired by festivals and celebrations from across the globe, the World Cup, and the children’s own holiday experiences. Together, we’ve been exploring different countries, cultures and traditions. 🎊🪅

Our children have enjoyed becoming travel agents in their imaginative play, hopping on buses and aeroplanes with their friends to visit their destinations. They’ve also enjoyed exploring globes, maps and flags from around the world, sparking lots of curiosity and conversations about the places we share. 🌍

Stay tuned to see where in the world we’ve been visiting… ✈️

✨🎓 Yesterday we celebrated our Big Bears as they get ready to start school in September!

We had a lovely time looking back on all of the memories they’ve made here at The Bridge, with some of them having been with us since the very first day we opened our doors. 🥹

💚 A big thank you to all of our families for letting us be part of your children’s early years. We wish all of our school leavers the very best for their next adventure. 💚

Good luck at school, Big Bears – go and show everyone what you’re made of! 😎 Don’t forget to come back and visit us soon! 🧸

🍽️ Meet the newest member of The Bridge Nursery team – our cook, Ewan, who has settled in brilliantly and has already been busy cooking with the children! 👨‍🍳

Ewan led a cooking activity with our Cubs and Big Bears, following the children’s current interest in dinosaurs. Together, they made dinosaur eggs (cheese & chive scones)! 🦕🧀 We enjoyed these as our starter at lunchtime. 😋

The activity encouraged the children to develop their fine motor skills, use mathematical language, practise their listening and attention, build their communication skills and take turns while working together.

We plan for our cook to spend time with each age group every week, giving all of our children the chance to develop their cookery skills and be involved in preparing healthy meals and snacks for us all to enjoy together at nursery. 💚
