👏GCSE Maths Foundation Success

Today I am SO incredibly proud of one of my former students! ❤️

When I started tutoring her in Year 11, she was working at a Grade 1 in GCSE Maths Foundation. Today, she got her results and achieved a Grade 4!
🎉 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

A three-grade improvement in one year is an incredible achievement, and I couldn’t be happier for her. She worked incredibly hard, kept going when things felt difficult, and never gave up.

This is exactly why you should never give up hope. With the right support, determination and hard work, you really can achieve things that once felt impossible.

To my lovely student - I am SO proud of you. You did it! ❤️ Never doubt what you’re capable of. 🌟

👩‍🏫A Tutor’s Reflection 🌟

I have had the privilege of supporting this wonderful young person over the past six months, and I couldn’t be prouder of the progress he has made.

When we first started working together, he was extremely anxious and lacked confidence. He didn’t initially feel comfortable being tutored without either Mum or Dad present. By taking the time to build a trusting, positive relationship and creating a safe, encouraging learning environment, he gradually developed the confidence to attend his sessions independently. Watching that transformation has been incredibly rewarding.

His progress has extended far beyond handwriting. 🖊️

Through weekly practice, we have worked on cursive writing, letter formation and legibility, alongside simple hand and fine-motor exercises. We have also used visual prompts to support him in remembering capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. These strategies have made a real difference, and it is wonderful to hear him say that people can now actually read his work!

His confidence in reading aloud has also grown enormously. One particularly special moment for me was seeing him read aloud in front of his dad, something he had not felt able to do from a very young age. That was such a proud moment and a wonderful reflection of how far his confidence has come.

We have also been developing his ability to analyse texts, express and record his ideas, and understand how to structure his writing in the required form. He is becoming increasingly willing to have a go, share his ideas and believe in his own abilities.

Most importantly, he is beginning to recognise that he can succeed.

His testimonial means a great deal to me, especially knowing the journey he has been on. I am incredibly proud of his determination, his growing independence and the confidence he is developing as a learner.

This is exactly why I believe tutoring is about so much more than academic progress. It is about building trust, celebrating small steps, developing confidence and helping children discover what they are capable of. 💛

I am so incredibly proud of this wonderful achievement & everything that has been accomplished. I have had the privilege of supporting this learner throughout her primary school journey & watching her grow into such a determined, hardworking & resilient learner has been truly special.

Her 2026 Year 6 SATs results are fantastic:

🌟 Student Success Story 🌟
I’m incredibly proud of one of my Year 12 students who has been working with me since October to prepare for her English and Maths GCSE resits this summer.
When we started, she was lacking confidence in both subjects and finds learning particularly challenging due to dyslexia and dyscalculia. Despite this, she has worked so hard and made fantastic progress in just four months.
In her November English Language resit she was only two marks away from a pass after just one month of tutoring – an amazing achievement and a real sign of how quickly her skills were improving.
Since then, we’ve continued building her confidence using structured strategies tailored to how she learns best, including:
• clear step-by-step approaches
• memory and revision techniques
• targeted exam practice
• breaking down complex questions into manageable steps
Most importantly, she now enjoys our sessions and recognises how much she has learned in such a short time. Seeing that confidence grow is exactly why I love tutoring.
I’m so proud of the progress she’s made and excited to keep supporting her as she prepares for her GCSE resits this summer.
