Due to the current high temperatures, we have unfortunately made the decision to cancel Sports Day this Thursday. Whilst we are hugely disappointed to cancel such a popular Summer Term event, we are mindful of the predicted rising temperatures both this week and into next week as well. As a result, we are unable to rearrange another date for this event to happen before we break up.
Bikeability for 6T and 6P has also been cancelled on Friday this week. Swimming sessions will continue as normal.
To ensure children feel as comfortable as possible, children are permitted to wear loose fitting PE kit for the remainder of this week, should they wish.
Given the current predicted heatwave, please also ensure you provide your child with the following:
• a freshly filled water bottle containing just water
• a named sun hat
• suncream is applied before school. However, if your child is especially prone to burning and you feel they may need an additional application, you may send in a labelled bottle of sun cream, which your child should give to their teacher. Some suncreams contain nut-derived ingredients. As a nut-free school we ask that you try to ensure any sunscreen is safe for nut allergy sufferers. You must always check the inactive ingredients list on the packaging. Be on the lookout for these common nut-related terms:
• Almond: Prunus dulcis or Prunus amygdalus dulcis
• Peanut: Arachis hypogaea
• Macadamia: Macadamia ternifolia
• Shea: Butyrospermum parkii
• Argan: Argania spinosa
Your child will be able to apply the cream themselves (usually just before lunchtime) under the supervision of a staff member. If your child is in nursery, please pass your bottle of suncream to a staff member at drop off time and give permission for this to be applied to them by staff.
