This week, the children learned about the three classes of levers and explored why and how levers work. They discovered that levers are simple machines which help us lift and move heavy loads more easily by reducing the amount of effort needed. The children identified the key parts of a lever, including the fulcrum, load and effort, and investigated how these components work together to create movement.
The children then used everything they had learned to plan and create their own pictures featuring moving parts. We were amazed by the imagination, creativity and ingenuity on display, with a wide range of exciting designs brought to life through cleverly constructed levers and linkages.
