🎃It's Competition Day 🎃
Today is the day that the Winners of the 2025 Paint a Pumkin Competition have been decided.
Please look at the pictures below to see all of the wonderful entries we have had.
The Big Bears have loved seeing your frightful creations come into nursery the last few weeks. You have all done amazing and should be so proud.
Our judges found it very hard to decide.
The winning pumpkins can be seen below with their prizes, as well as the staff winner.

With autumn in full swing all the children have been using pumpkins to explore new learning opportunities. In the Preschool room they have turned a Pumpkin into the Pumpkin of Love. In a group time they all spoke about what they love and we wrote it on the Pumpkin. They said things such as:
- My friends
- My Mummy and Daddy
- Lightning Mcqueen
- Chicken nuggets
- Toy Story
And many more 🎃

Please note some Ice pops also contain glycerol. We check Ice pops here at nursery before giving to children .

Did you know that children under 7 should not consume slush ice drinks or ‘slushies’ with glycerol?

In young children glycerol can cause:

- Sickness
- Headaches
- Hypoglycaemia (low sugar in blood)
- Shock
- Loss of consciousness

Our latest advice is slush ice drinks that contain glycerol shouldn’t be consumed by children under 7, and under 10s should only be given one 350ml drink – that’s about the size of a fizzy drink can. Check with the seller about the drink’s glycerol content – don’t buy if in doubt.

Teeny Medics First Aid Session 👩‍⚕️🧑‍⚕️
Yesterday we had Nurse Sam from Osborn Training Hub come and visit our Preschool children to lead a first aid session. The children learnt lots of new skills and had lots of fun learning and getting involved. The children looked at: the recovery position, bandages, plasters, stethoscopes, who to call in an emergency and lots more.
We now have lots of graduated Teeny Medics here at Little Bears
