🌟 Ready to Welcome Every Child Back 🌟

Our staff team have been busy preparing our learning environments ready for the children's return on Monday.

Every classroom and shared space has been thoughtfully designed to help all children feel welcome, safe, valued, and ready to learn. The school is looking beautiful, and we can't wait to fill it with laughter, curiosity, and learning once again.

Important changes to free school meals from September 2026

The Department for Education (DfE) is introducing changes to the national free school meals (FSM) eligibility criteria from September.

All families currently entitled to FSM must reapply to continue receiving the benefit in September, as transitional protections* will end at the end of this school year (July 2026).

Also, the DfE are expanding FSM eligibility so many more families may now be eligible. We are therefore asking ALL parents and carers to apply over the summer.

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, they will receive a free school meal through the universal infant free school meals scheme. However, we still need you to apply as it can help the school receive additional funding to support pupils.

🌟 Welcome Back! 🌟

We hope you have all had a wonderful summer break and enjoyed some special time with family and friends. We are looking forward to welcoming our families and children back for an exciting new school year.

Please remember that school will be closed to children on Thursday 3rd September and Friday 4th September for our staff INSET training days, when our team will be taking part in professional development and training.

📚 Children return to school on Monday 7th September.

We can't wait to see all of your smiling faces. Here's to an exciting year of learning, growth and success together!

Thank you to the Walnut Tree! Our children loved taking part in this competition! ⭐

Walnut Tree Weston-super-Mare

As many of you know, we partnered with Oldmixon Primary School back in October, and we’re delighted to have teamed up with them once again!

This time, we asked the children to design a logo for Ben’s charity walk. We were blown away by the creativity, talent and effort that went into every single entry. Choosing just one winner was incredibly difficult!

After much deliberation, one design really stood out to us. A huge congratulations to Jude in Year 6! 🥳 Your logo was bright, vibrant, colourful and perfectly captured the spirit of the charity walk. We absolutely loved it!

If anyone knows Jude or his parents, please let them know that his winner’s hamper is waiting for him at the Walnut Tree Pub. 🎁

A massive well done to every child who took part. You should all be so proud of yourselves – you’re all little Picassos! 🎨❤️ Thank you for sharing your amazing creativity with us.

Yesterday was a truly emotional day as we said farewell to Mrs Rundle- Crowe an exceptional Headteacher who has dedicated more than six years to supporting the children, families, and staff of Oldmixon. Through her leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our school community, she has made a lasting difference to so many lives. Her guidance, encouragement, and belief in others have helped Oldmixon grow and flourish, and her impact will be felt for many years to come.

While we are incredibly sad to see her leave, we are also excited for her as she begins this new chapter. We wish her every success and happiness in her new role and thank her for everything she has done for Oldmixon Primary School.

She will be greatly missed by all who have had the privilege of working with and learning from her. 💐🌷🌺🌹🌼

We also said a temporary goodbye to Mrs Miller, who is moving to another ELAN school following her well-deserved promotion. We are so proud of her achievement and wish her every success in her new role.

Lastly, we said goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 children as they move on to the next stage of their journey. It has been a privilege to watch them grow, learn, and flourish during their time at Oldmixon. We are proud of everything they have achieved and know they will go on to do amazing things as they begin secondary school.

As we reach the end of another school year, we wish all of our Oldmixon family a fantastic summer.

Year 6 had an excellent afternoon of water games ending in some very soggy children! We had the best time! 💦
