The journey of learning the piano is never simply about passing exams or receiving certificates—it is a path of discovery, discipline, and deep love for music. My student’s achievement of completing four ABRSM piano grades with outstanding results is a remarkable milestone, but it is also a testament to something greater: determination, consistent practice, and an unwavering passion for music.

Each grade has brought its own challenges, requiring not only technical precision but also artistic expression. The ABRSM grading system provides a structured way to grow, guiding pianists through scales, sight-reading, and performance pieces while nurturing musicianship at every stage. With each step, my student has developed new skills, both technically and musically, while gaining confidence as a performer.

More than just examinations, this journey reflects a true love for the piano. From the elegance of Baroque works to the richness of Classical repertoire, and from Romantic expression to modern compositions of the 20th and 21st centuries, he has embraced the vast world of piano music. This exploration has allowed him not only to learn but also to connect deeply with the artistry of world-renowned composers across different eras.

The reward of such dedication is not only in high marks but in the joy of musical growth—the ability to interpret music with sensitivity, to understand its styles and traditions, and to express one’s own voice through the instrument. It has been inspiring to witness this progress and to see how perseverance, guided practice, and love for music can shape a pianist’s journey.

This achievement is both a celebration of the results earned and a reminder of the exciting road ahead. Music is a lifelong companion, and with such passion and dedication, the journey promises to be as fulfilling as the destination.

ABRSM offers digital piano exams, that are not 1:1 in-person exams, meaning they are designed for remote assessment, often conducted via video recordings or online live performances. These exams are especially useful when in-person assessments are not feasible. Here’s an overview:

❓️What Are ABRSM Digital Piano Exams?

- Format: Conducted remotely, either through pre-recorded videos or live online sessions.
- Eligibility: Available for various grades, including up to Grade 8, depending on the current offerings.
- Purpose: To provide a flexible, accessible way to take exams without visiting an exam center physically.

❓️How Do They Work?

- Preparation: You prepare your chosen pieces, scales, sight-reading, and aural tests as usual.
- Recording/Performance:
- You may be asked to record your performance following specific guidelines, ensuring clear audio/video quality.
- Alternatively, some centers or exam boards offer live online assessments where you perform in real-time via a video link.
- Submission: Submit your recordings or perform live online, depending on the arrangement.
- Assessment: A qualified examiner reviews your submission or performance remotely.

❓️Key Points for Digital Exams:

- Setup: Use a good-quality digital piano with a stable internet connection and a quiet environment.
- Recording Tips:
- Follow ABRSM’s technical guidelines for recording.
- Ensure good lighting, clear audio, and a full view of your hands and keyboard.
- Timing: Be aware of deadlines and scheduling if performing live online.
- Preparation: Practice under exam conditions to ensure you meet the technical and musical standards.

❓️Benefits:

- Flexibility to perform from home or a chosen location.
- Reduced travel and logistical concerns.
- Accessibility for students in remote areas or with health considerations.

❓️Additional Information:

- Check Specifics: Details about the format, submission procedures, and technical requirements are available on the [ABRSM website](https://www.abrsm.org) or your local exam center.

So proud of you all!

The end of term brings many ready to have a go and record their ABRSM exam pieces this time.

Huge well done to you all who are trying their best in catching their best performance this week!

Fingers crossed! So far so great!

ABRSM offers Digital Piano Exams, allowing candidates to record their performances and submit them online. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you:

1. Understanding the Exam Format
The digital exam consists of four pieces (instead of three + scales in live exams).

No scales, sight-reading, or aural tests are required.

Each piece is marked out of 30, with a total score of 150.

2. Recording Guidelines
The recording must be a single, unedited take of all four pieces.

It should be done in one continuous video (not separate files).

Use a good-quality microphone to ensure clear sound.

The pianist’s hands and face should be visible.

If using a digital piano, ensure it has an authentic sound and sustain pedal.

3. Uploading & Submitting

Upload the video following ABRSM’s format requirements.

Provide the score details and submit before the deadline.

I do it all for my students:

1. Preperation
2. Recording
3. Submission

Any inquiry around piano qualification for you or your child, please ask or let me know.

Behind the scene....

There is a looong process...

We work hard. Well done to all who completed their recording over the half term! 🎹

I make sure we follow the rules for video framing, sound quality, and submission format.
All pieces must be recorded in one continuous take (without editing or cuts).
2. Equipment & Setup
A. Video Recording
Use a smartphone, tablet, or external camera with good resolution.
Position: The entire keyboard and your hands must be visible.
Angle: A side or diagonal view works best.
Lighting: Ensure the keyboard and hands are well-lit.
B. Audio Recording
For a digital piano, you have two options:

1. Direct Audio (Recommended)

If allowed, connect your digital piano directly to your recording device using a USB audio interface or a line-out cable.
This provides clear sound without background noise.
2. External Microphone

If recording acoustically, use a high-quality external microphone instead of built-in phone/tablet mics.
C. Software for Recording (Optional)
If you’re using direct audio, software like GarageBand (Mac/iOS), Audacity (Windows), or OBS Studio can help capture high-quality sound.
Make sure your audio and video are synced correctly if recorded separately.
3. Recording Process
Start the recording and wait a few seconds before playing.
Play all pieces in one continuous take without stopping the recording.
No talking or editing allowed after starting the performance.
Review your video for clear visuals and sound balance before submitting.
4. File Format & Submission
File Format: MP4 (most common), check ABRSM for details.
Upload: Follow ABRSM’s digital submission portal instructions.
Check Deadlines: Ensure your video is submitted before the cutoff!👌

What an amazing performance yesterday!✨️

As it comes to the end if the year we get a chance to see and share our amazing skills on the stage.

It was a pleasure to see all the singing, dancing and piano solos from my students.

They all were so brave to go up and show off on the stage and I look up the every single one of them!

Well done you all! 👏 ✨️ 🎶

These pieces are beautiful and are often favourites among piano enthusiasts.
