And now the (i)GCSEs are in and the academic year has come full circle. A couple of weeks to relax before it all kicks off again in September! 🙄😂😂
I'm really, really pleased for all of my students: they all performed to the best of their abilities and can feel really proud of their achievements.
B got 7s in English Lit and English Lang
S got 7 in English Lang and 6 in English Lit
C got a 7 in English Lang
J passed her Functional Skills Level 2 English

What touches me on a personal level, as much as the results, are the wonderful messages they, and their parents, send on results day. I do consistently try to do my very, very best for my students. I work really hard for them (and not just during their paid time) and to have that appreciated and recognised means so much to me.
I wish all the best to all my students from this year's exam cohorts as they now follow whatever path they have chosen going forward.
It has been an honour teaching them ❤️

And the A' level results are in... ! 🥳

My A' Level French student got a high C and I got this lovely message from him: "Thank you, Jane. You were amazing. I’ve got my offer sorted for Cardiff university so I am over the moon!"
And, rather touchingly, I also heard from a former iGCSE English student who wanted to let me know that she's now completed her A' Levels and is off to Durham University.
It's fantastic to know that she still valued me enough to want to share her news with me ❤️

Since we moved to Somerset 4 years ago, I've been teaching French at my child's then primary school once a week as a volunteer.

I offered initially because I wanted to help and the head teacher had made it clear that she (who was responsible for teaching French to my child's class) wasn't really comfortable with it.

Having now taught there for 4 years (even though my child left last year to go to secondary school) I am finishing there this Friday 😢 This was my decision as I am tiptoeing towards retirement 😬😂😂

But... I will miss them so much! I love my one-to-one tutoring, and the closeness and personal relationships that it creates between me and my students and their families, but I very much miss the joy of whole class teaching and the camaraderie of being part of a team.

I have one more lesson left with them but I attended their leavers' service this afternoon. They gave me these beautiful flowers ❤️🌻😊

I feel loved and appreciated 🥰

And so the end of another academic year approaches and I have to say goodbye to some of my older students, who are ready for their next steps in life and no longer need me.

It always makes me a little sad 😢

However, it's so worth it, and makes me so happy and proud, to receive messages like this:

"Dear Jane,

It really does feel like the end of an era!

We are incredibly grateful for everything you have done for both NAME and NAME over the years. Your support, encouragement, patience, and dedication have meant so much to all of us, and we feel very fortunate to have had you as part of their educational journey. You have not only helped them academically, but also given them confidence and inspiration along the way.

Both girls have genuinely enjoyed working with you, and we will always appreciate the care and effort you brought to every lesson. We are absolutely delighted with your work and could not have asked for a better tutor for them both.

Thank you as well for your kind wishes — we are hopeful for good results in August and will definitely keep you updated.

We wish you all the very best for the future, and we would be very happy to recommend you to anyone looking for an excellent tutor.
