Our next Tea Break is on Wednesday 9th September at 10:30.

After a lovely August tea break, we have decided to alter the format slightly. From September we are going to use part of the time to deliver a short snack-sized knowledge share.

The theme for September is 'Listening with purpose - the benefits and how to do it well'.

Following this, there will be time for you to bring your challenges and gain practical support and guidance from Emma and I.

Choosing to enrol on a qualification can be a daunting prospect for many people.

Some of the questions I get asked are:

Am I going to have to do homework?

What happens if I fail?

How much time is it going to take?

Is it going to be like being back at college?

Being good at your job doesn’t automatically prepare you to manage people.

Many managers are promoted because they are experienced, dependable and technically capable. They are then expected to know how to:

• Give clear feedback
• Manage performance
• Handle difficult conversations
• Delegate effectively
• Build confidence within their team
• Stay calm when under pressure

These are learned skills, not things people should simply be expected to know.

Management development works best when people have space to explore real workplace challenges, practice new approaches and build confidence over time.

Tea Break with Emma & Lucy – Real conversations for line managers

“An honest peek inside coaching and mentoring sessions, genuine challenges and practical ways forward”.

Ever wondered what other line managers are really struggling with but don’t always say out loud?

Come and join us for a series of short, informal tea break sessions where we step into the kinds of conversations we have every day in coaching and mentoring. We’ll share real (anonymous) challenges that come up for line managers and team leaders, along with the questions, perspectives and practical approaches that help move things forward.

No slides, no pressure, just honest insight from us both, useful topics to get you thinking, and a few ideas you can take straight back into your day.

Our first Tea Break is Thursday 2nd July @ 10.30am for 30 minutes. No prep needed, just come along.
