Today sees the start of the English exams, with GCSE English Literature Paper 1 today with Paper 2 next week. If you’ve used any of my Lit courses to help prepare for this exam, I really hope the exam tips and past questions will help and of course, I wish all my private students the best of luck too.
GCSE and IGCSE English Language is on Friday 23rd May and Friday 6th June. My £2 Tuition Hub students entering this exam could well be into three figures! Fingers crossed for The Explorer’s Daughter and Whistle - if you know, you know. I hope the AQA, Eduqas, OCR and Edexcel exams are kind this year too.

Tomorrow is my official “back to work” day as I welcome new and existing students back to tuition in one to one, small groups and webinars. In The £2 Tuition Hub, it’s Pygmalion, a film study in Media, IGCSE English Language with my third cohort starting on Tuesday, Creative Writing, Worlds and Lives poetry, Henry IV Part One and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
However, this is a great time to reflect on the amazing successes of my students this year. 100% Grade 4+ in English Language and for my first cohort of private groups and one to ones for IGCSE, about 90% achieved Grade 7 to 9. Excellent grades for my webinar students too. Again, many at 7+.
Some students have spent a year or two with me; one student was with me for just over three years and although I’ll miss him, I know he’s delighted to have passed English and can move on.
Exams are a stepping stone. They help us to make our journeys to the next phase of our lives. I’m proud and privileged to have helped my students succeed in this phase. ❤️

Today is a big day. Today, over 100 of the students I've been teaching over the last two years are sitting down to English Language Paper 1 - IGCSE and GCSE. Two years ago, the The £2 Tuition Hub made the decision to start offering IGCSE and GCSE courses and I've been in charge of English webinars - IGCSE and a range of other English subjects. I've delivered 65 hours of IGCSE teaching over that time in the Hub (live and interactive) and worked with small groups and individuals too. My very first cohort has just sat down to Paper 1, as well as many of my lovely private students.
I hope that all their hard work pays off and they get what they deserve. This year, results day will be a very different experience for me!

I hope that everyone receiving exam results today gets what they deserve as well as what they need. I’m looking forward to hearing from my students as they get their grades today because I know how hard they’ve worked. Contrary to suggestions in the media, exam marking hasn’t become tougher. As an examiner this year, we marked to exactly the same criteria and standards as we’ve always done. We don’t grade - we give a numerical mark. Grades are set afterwards, based on those marks. The grade boundaries shift every year, to produce whatever narrative the government wants.

Saturday birthday party 🥳🎉

Fab time yesterday running a girly, unicorns, princess and rainbows birthday party for our superstar theatre school student Tatiana 🌈👸🏼🦄

We danced and sang like pop stars, played Disney themed games, found plenty of sweeties in a rainbow piñata, performed a cheerleader routine with sparkly Pom poms, pinned the horn on the unicorn - and had so much fun dancing and playing some classic games like pass the parcel 🤩

We offer a limited number of birthday parties throughout the year - why not take away the stress and hassle of entertaining and pop us a message to find out more 🎂

Delighted that I’ve heard nothing but success stories so far today, from those who desperately needed that Grade 4 to a super double 9 in Lang and Lit from a student I’ve worked with through Year 11. Still waiting to hear from a few but I’m proud of each and every one of my students. You deserve this - now onwards and upwards to the next stage of your lives. I wish you luck and I’ll miss you!

Day One of GCSEs 2022. It’s been three years since we’ve had a proper summer exam season and I’m so pleased for this year’s cohort, as they will finally have the opportunity to show off their hard work and get the outcome they deserve.
Good luck, not only to the lovely A Level, GCSE, iGCSE and Functional Skills English students with whom I’ve had the huge pleasure of working this year and to past students moving up to the next levels of exams, but every single student, teacher, parent and anyone involved in this year’s assessments. ❤️🤞
