St Patrick's day!☘️
St Patrick's Day is a wonderful opportunity for our children to engage in meaningful learning experiences! As well as the children and staff wearing green we had a range of activities out within all of the rooms💚
In our baby rooms, we focused on sensory play to help them connect with the celebration. The younger babies enjoyed exploring a variety of rainbow-coloured paints, creating their own unique rainbows.🌈 Older babies had fun with gloop, where they dug, scooped, and felt the material, which was shaped into clovers for extra exploration before being lifted away from their exploration. ☘️
Toddlers explored colours by using a green sensory scarf to search the room for green toys to gather at the table. We examined our sensory bottles and noticed one contained blue and yellow. Together, we gave it a shake to see the colours blend wonderfully. We also had a large scale green painting activity, which the children helped wash up in our baby washing tray, turning the water green to match our outfits!🟢
Meanwhile, the pre-schoolers linked their learning to a dino-fossil theme, discovering gold coins and green decorations hidden in the sand tray. This sparked a chat about St Patrick's Day and Ireland,🇮🇪 where we discussed the different accents and various festivals celebrated there. Pre-school also explored green paint in the garden, looking at clovers that their friends had picked on a recent outing, trying to paint our own clovers.
It's been fantastic to witness all the learning that has taken place today! Everyone has engaged enthusiastically in these activities and it was a lovely way for all the children to enjoy and learn about St Patrick's Day through play.☘️🇮🇪🌈
