🌟 Busy learning in Beech Class! 🌟

Beech Class have been working incredibly hard across all areas of their learning! 😊

πŸ“š Literacy: We have been learning all about Superworm! The children have been working on writing captions and thinking carefully about adjectives to describe him. Who knew Superworm was independent, pink and wiggly! πŸͺ±βœοΈ

πŸ”’ Maths: We are continuing to develop our counting skills within 10 and this week have worked really hard to master finding 1 less. Fantastic perseverance, Beech Class! πŸ‘

πŸ—οΈ Design & Technology: We have been investigating how to build stable structures. There has been lots of experimenting, problem-solving and fun as we tried to create a stable base to hold our pencils! ✏️

πŸ—ΊοΈ Geography: We are learning about where we are in the UK. This week, the children enjoyed getting creative and making their own maps using objects they found around the classroom.

What a busy week of learning – well done, Beech Class!⭐

Year 6 enjoyed a memorable and educational trip to the Houses of Parliament this week. Travelling by river boat along the Thames, the children were able to spot many of London’s famous landmarks from a unique perspective. Although the weather was rainy and drizzly at times, it certainly did not dampen their enthusiasm or excitement for the day.
During their visit, the children learned about how the House of Commons, the House of Lords and the Monarchy work together to create laws and govern the country. It was a fascinating opportunity to bring their learning about democracy and government to life and to gain a deeper understanding of how decisions are made in the United Kingdom.
The children represented the school brilliantly throughout the day. Their excellent behaviour, positive attitude and engagement were a credit to both themselves and their families, and they were a genuine pleasure to take out. We are incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves and embraced every aspect of this valuable learning experience. Thank you to all the staff for making this trip possible!

Talking to a pupil about their wellbeing can feel daunting, particularly when you are unsure what to say or worried about hearing something concerning.

Our latest guide reminds educators that they do not need to be specialists to provide meaningful support.

The guide explores:
β€’ Building warm, trusting relationships
β€’ Choosing a safe and appropriate place to talk
β€’ Using side-by-side conversations to reduce pressure
β€’ Staying calm when a pupil shares a concern
β€’ Being clear and honest about confidentiality
β€’ Knowing when to involve safeguarding colleagues or seek support yourself

It also includes practical conversation starters to help staff open discussions gently and give pupils space to talk when they are ready.

πŸ”¬ Science meets DT in Maple Class! πŸ”¬

Maple Class have been putting their science learning into action during their DT lessons by investigating electrical circuits! πŸ’‘

The children had great fun creating their very own mini fans, using a motor as part of their circuits.

A fantastic hands-on way to bring their learning to life – well done, Maple Class! πŸ‘β

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒ Our First Inter-House Competition of the Year! πŸ†

This week we held our first Inter-House competition of the year – Cross Country for Years 1–6!

It was fantastic to see so many children taking part. For some, it meant stepping outside their comfort zone, but they showed wonderful courage and determination to represent their house. πŸ’ͺ

We especially loved seeing the children cheering on their housemates and encouraging one another all the way to the finish line. β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™

A huge congratulations to Stag House (Red) ❀️ who were the overall winners of the event! πŸ†

Most importantly, a massive well done to every single child who took part – we are so proud of you all! 🌟

And finally, a massive thank you to Miss Pearson for organising such a fantastic and successful event and also our parent volunteer Mr Williams! πŸ‘

β€’ Pressure around male appearance and body image
β€’ Misleading or potentially dangerous advice
β€’ Obsessive behaviours and declining self-worth

HELP US TO RECEIVE Β£1000 OF EQUIPMENT FREE IN JUST HALF AN HOUR!

That's right - we need just half an hour of your time on Tuesday after school and the equipment is ours to benefit the school for years to come.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner Dessert.

Whether you are feeding just yourself and a little person, or an army of friends are descending for a dinner party, Thermomix has you covered. It also has us covered for cooking in the classroom!

This all-in-one cooking appliance has access to thousands of recipes, at the touch of a, well, touch-screen. Aspen road-tested a number of Thermie meals during the course of last year - they LOVED interacting with the recipes, witnessing the raw ingredients transform into wholesome meals, and ate what they made. Now that alone is priceless!

Churchill are thrilled to have secured the opportunity to host a Thermomix demonstration, this coming Tuesday at 3:30pm for 30 minutes. If we can guarantee at least 25 attendees who are willing to share name and email details, THEN THE SCHOOL WILL BE DONATED A BRAND NEW THERMIE FREE! This opens so many doors for cooking experiences in school; links to curriculum topics, group opportunities, and more. No need to leave the classroom for an oven, or bring in a food processor, blender, soup maker…

Fancy learning more about Thermomix and seeing one in live demonstration to find out what it can do in the classroom and tasting a few of their recipes too?

What a week for Year 6!

Our Year 6 children had an amazing four nights away, last week, at Hindleap Warren, packed with adventure, challenges and lots of laughter!

From hunting for drop bears and jumping in VERY muddy puddles on the Forest Adventure to abseiling, zip lining, archery, axe throwing and climbing – they certainly packed a lot in! 🎯πŸͺ“

After busy days, they enjoyed some fabulous food before winding down with hot chocolate β˜• and a bedtime story. πŸ“–

The children and staff returned full of stories and wonderful memories to share.

A HUGE thank you to our amazing staff who gave up their time and worked around the clock to make sure everyone had a safe, happy and memorable week. πŸ’™πŸ‘

Well done, Year 6 – what an adventure!
