Great news from Nido Homestead! 🌱 This week, we harvested our first batch of food for a customer!!
Fresh tomatoes, spring onions, and basil. We also received some courgettes from a neighbour, which we happily shared! Our customer transformed these ingredients into a mouthwatering pasta sauce, a colourful stir fry, and an oven-baked marrow stuffed with mince. We’re overjoyed to hear it was a success!
As a token of appreciation for being our first customer, we gifted them this harvest at no charge. Here’s to many more fresh and delicious meals ahead! 🍅✨

Homestead life is absolutely marvellous. After a busy day gardening and planning for the following season, I felt a bit peckish and thirsty. I harvested some basil and made a refreshing drink. Then picked some tomatoes and ate them straight from the vine. No need for coffee, a fizzy drink or an ultra processed snack. I haven’t made one penny today but I have not spend money on expensive snacks or drinks from the supermarket.

Nido’s Intensive Care Unit has been hard at work today! 🌱 These beautiful plants needed some TLC after a rough night of strong winds. We’ve been nurturing them back to health for the past few weeks. We started by placing their broken stems in water and waited patiently for them to form new roots. Today we transferred them to their own pots. All under the watchful eye of their guardian, Arthur the Beagle 🐶💚✨

You say Tomato, I say Tomato. Nido cannot wait to share our tomatoes. They have been nurtured, watered and loved everyday since the spring.

Our teen chef-in-training, Jacob! 👨‍🍳 After a day working as a kitchen porter at a fantastic local restaurant, he wanted to check on Nido’s homegrown carrots. They tasted delicious but we agree that they need a bit more time to grow 😂🥕 💖

What a whirlwind day at Nido Homestead! 🌱✨ Checked on our thriving tomatoes, basil, marigolds, figs and strawberries. Decided to keep the cucumbers and chilies inside a bit longer. Prepped soil for our herb garden and cleared space for flowers. Chipped some pantry potatoes for planting soon. But the highlight? We planted carrots and spring onions! Couldn’t have done it without my fabulous assistant, Arthur the Beagle. 🐾💚

What a bittersweet day! 🌟 On Thursday, March 26th, we celebrated the final day at Nido Montessori. After nearly a decade of welcoming hundreds of incredible children into our family home, it’s been hard to say goodbye. We partied in the garden, enjoyed a movie, and indulged in delicious party treats that the kids brought to share. They exchanged heartfelt handmade cards and picked out a few favorite memories to take home from their time at Nido. Here’s to all the beautiful moments! 💖✨
