Mrs Daniel has been busy creating these gorgeous, festive reindeer in advance of Light Up Hassocks. All handcrafted from Willow. She will have a small stall on our front playground at the start and end of the day. Do pay her a visit at drop off and collection time. Sadly one of the hands has fallen off the clock at the front of our school! Thank you to everybody who has been in touch to let us know. A repair has been organised and paid for by the Hassocks Community Organisation. We are hoping to see the clock back in action soon!

Are you interested in becoming a school governor? West Sussex Governor services has organised an information session...
There are no specific qualifications needed to be a school governor. You don’t have to be a parent or have a background in education. Each governing board needs a balance of skills, knowledge and experience. Governors need to have the time to contribute to the work of the board and be able to ask questions to hold the school to account, to ensure that every child gets the best possible education.
Interested to find out more about being a governor in a West Sussex school?
We are holding an online information event on Tuesday 11th February from 1815 – 1915. We will be joined by governors who will tell you about their experiences and answer any questions you might have.
Our schools are waiting to welcome you!

Important update from the Light Up Hassocks Committee about tomorrow evening....

FoHIS donate 10% of the funds raised to the Madagascar Development Fund. We were excited to receive this update from the MDF...
Dear Friends of Hassocks Infant School,
Earlier this year one of MDF's supporters financed the construction of a three classroom primary school at Ambohibato, complete with classroom furniture and latrines. As often happens the parents of a significant number of school age children, who were not in education, were so impressed by the beautiful new school that they made sacrifices and decided after all to register them there. The Head Teacher was able to accommodate some of the new children, but needed additional classroom furniture to fit them in.
FoHIS (and MDF) were able come to the rescue thanks to a small under-spend of around £100 on your last project which remained in your account and was sufficient to buy four, locally made, three seater school benches. Two other MDF supporters were able to help in a similar way - increasing the number of additional places created at the school by 36.
I attach to this and my next emails photographs of the new school, the classroom furniture FoHIS paid for and a video clip of the children expressing their grateful thanks.
I and the MDF team send our own thanks and very best wishes to all Friends of Hassocks Infant School for your continued support. You have made these children very, very happy!

At Hassocks Infant School we are looking for a co-opted Governor to join our Governing Body. As a governor you will be a volunteer who makes a vital contribution to the success of the school.
School Governors ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction; hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; Governors oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent.
This role may be particularly of interest if you have an interest or skillset in safeguarding, but we invite expressions of interest from anyone who is interested in helping the school be the best it can be. Full training is available, and Governors are encouraged to attend regular training sessions, either in person or online. You do not need to be a parent of the school to become a co-opted Governor, so please do pass on this information on to other members of our local, wider community that may be interested in the role.
If you are interested or know someone who is, please email directly the Co-Chairs of Governors with your expression of interest and further information: [email protected] and visit the website at the following link for more information:
