Here’s a quick little snapshot of some of the learning which took place this week in my tuition sessions. We have been practising our handwriting skills, completing some fine motor activities to strengthen our hands for writing, taking part in lots of maths games, building confidence with place value understanding, recapping some of our trickier phonics sounds and exploring the book, The Dark, by Lemony Snicket. I just love the enthusiasm of my learners and how excited they are to see what’s in my big bag for the session! 😊

Try out a 1:1, sibling or ‘Bring a Buddy’ session designed to provide personalised support in a fun and interactive way! These sessions are ideal for children in primary school in need of additional support or ready for a tailored challenge in the comfort of their own home. Hi everyone,

What a great start to the year it has been working with lovely new families and continuing with my existing families! The children have been so enthusiastic to get started again after the Christmas break and dive straight in. We have been exploring: mass in Maths Mastery; arctic themed phonics sensory play; creative writing and comprehension using The Dark by Lemony Snicket; and number facts in our number stories. If you would like additional support with your child aged between 4 and 11 years old in your own home, I have limited Saturday session availability for families living in the Beckenham/ West Wickham area.

• 50/55 minutes of personalised tuition followed by 5/10 minutes feedback.
• Included in the hourly fee: home learning activities (both online and physical); tutor’s travel fees for home visits; access to eBook libraries, games and activities; all resources; progress reviews; and a Learning Journal collating your child’s learning, assessments and progress information.
• Led by an experienced primary school teacher with a DBS certificate (on the Update Service), full professional insurance and a range of experience working with children with additional needs.
• The sessions can focus on one or more of the following: phonics, reading comprehension, writing, handwriting, science, a cross-curricular topic and Maths Mastery (Singapore-style Maths).

How to make a doll’s dress!👗

Young business enterprise! 🌟

For this ‘Writing Stars’ session, my little learner was keen on creating a fun, messy play pot for her friends and family. She always enjoys being imaginative and creative when we explore our messy play/ phonics trays for the sessions. She didn’t want her friends and family to miss out so it was a great opportunity to delve into the world of a small business. She had sooo many ideas on what to create, how to make her advertising poster and also what special offers she could provide! Using Canva on the laptop, she also had lots of practice developing her computing skills too. Not forgetting, we also covered plenty of phonics, punctuation and vocabulary learning as well in the session. What do you think of her fab poster and her messy play pots? Would you buy one?! 🤩

Dolphin Theme🐬

My little learner loved exploring under the water for this ‘Writing Stars’ session! She had to see how many of her phase 5 words (both real and nonsense) she could find, read and then spell again later in the session.
