Week 3 of Summer club at St Thomas More Preschool and more fantastic activities! Pizza and popcorn making on the fire, a trip to the charity shop to buy some new books and using the large screen on wet days to complete an exercise class! as well as walks to the park and along the canal, we are all raring to go for week 4 ๐

Wow another great week at Summer Club, action packed as always! We have made bird feeders, taken a walk along the canal to look at the houseboats and wildlife and had a treat in Costa. We have also been to the park and had lunch outside on the picnic benches. We are looking forward to seeing you all next week for some more fun activities!! Have a great weekend๐

Wow what a great first week of Summer Club!! We have had so much fun making bread and popcorn outside on our forest school fire pit ! Going to the charity shop, library and lunch in the park๐ as well as arts and crafts and games back at base. We are all looking forward to the next three weeks, with so many exciting activities planned. Hope you all had a great time and see you next week ๐ก

This week at preschool we have had so much fun!! We have enjoyed checking our bug hotel and checking on our new guests.๐๐ฆ๐๐
We have enjoyed ice cream maths and counting up to 20, where the children choose a numbered cone then use tweezers to pick up and place Pom poms onto the cone. The pom poms represent ice cream scoops and they are only allowed the number of scoops that corresponded to the number on their cones. ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข
We have also been exploring 2D and 3D shapes, using example cards to help us create different things. โช๏ธ๐บ๐ถ( see photo)
We have been using our new Lego to create our own models of things we see such as boats, houses and things in our environment.๐ก๐ค
Itโs been really fun using our role play area as we have some new outfits to wear. The children have really enjoyed dressing up as kings, queens, princesses and a princes and it also sparked conversation about who our king is!
We have been learning about the life cycle of wildlife this week we chose caterpillars, butterflies, tadpoles and frogs ๐ธ ๐ฆ the children even drew their own life cycles.
Lastly we have really enjoyed practising and learning the songs and choreography for our summer concert which the children performed on Tuesday in front of their parents ๐ค๐ต๐ฌ

Last week we enjoyed using the water area using our jugs for pouring as well as all the other pipes and tubes on the board.We also enjoyed playing with our home made rock pool and using our sandpit as a beach ๐๏ธ we also made our own beach cafe.
We also had lots of fun in forest school using the tools such as the saw to cut through wood! ๐ณ
Weโve enjoyed watering our vegetable and fruit patch and measuring our sunflowers.๐ป๐๐ฅ๐ฅฌ๐ฅ
We had a trip to the library to take out library books back and collect some news ones! ๐

This week the children have enjoyed visiting Waitrose and the local library.-๐ ๐
We have been watering our fruit, vegetables and herbs in the garden and measuring the growth of our sunflowers.๐ป ๐๐ฅ๐ฟ๐ฅ๐ฅฌ we have also been keeping an eye on our chirpy bird friends who have been singing to us! ๐๐ The children have enjoyed watching the mother bird fly off to get food and then fly back to give to her babies! ๐๏ธ๐ฅ

This week we have enjoyed making our friends birthday cards and practising our writing skills for school readiness.
We have completed our display boards using a variety of arts and crafts.๐จ๐๏ธ
We also enjoyed celebrating the kingโs coronation by having a tea party ๐
The children have really enjoyed planting herbs, fruit and vegetables and then helping to maintain them by watering them everyday and measuring how much they have grown ๐๐ฅ๐ฅฌ๐ป
We have also been using our activity boards in the garden such as the music, water and maths boards. ๐ผ๐งฎ๐ฆ

This week we have been planting our own sunflowers to take home! ๐ป We have planted lots of vegetables and herbs๐ฅ๐๐ฟ๐ฅฌ such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, basil, radish, chives and lettuce.
The children have really enjoyed helping to make the artwork for our display boards, especially the sunflower board. We look forward to measuring them as they grow! We've talked about and agreed our golden rules too. ๐ป๐๐ป

We are excited to let you know that our summer camp for children aged 3 upwards is back! This year we are including forest school activities, along with sports, arts and crafts. This week in our forest school we have been making homemade bread and cooking it on our open fire ๐ฅ
We have also been preparing the log store and talking about the things we may need in forest school ๐ณ
We then finished building our very own bug hotel in the garden using a variety of resources, and have really enjoyed looking for bugs and small creatures in the hotel!
We have also been practising our writing skills, copying, tracing and free hand writing โ๏ธ

This week we have been enjoying dressing up for world book week! We have enjoyed a trip to the library for rhyme time and collected some new books. ๐๐๐
We have also had lots of fun with our messy activities such as eating sweets from jelly without using our hands -and practicing our cutting skills using a knife and fork, the children were timed and had to put on gloves and then use a knife and fork to cut the chocolate bar. ๐ด๐ซ

This week we have been very busy enjoying our new areas in the garden which are music, maths, mud, water and construction, also our forest school area ๐ต๐งฎ๐งฑ๐ณ
We have been building a bug hotel too so have been collecting pine cones, leaves, and sticks to go into the hotel to keep the bugs cost๐๐๐ฆ๐ชฒ we enjoyed looking for wildlife and playing on the big car ๐๐ท๏ธ๐๐ฆ
On Shrove Tuesday and made our own pancakes for snack! ๐ฅ๐ฅ

This week we went to Waitrose to learn about recycling, we also made our own fire circle discs for our forest school and have enjoyed our welcome key group time in the morning. ๐ณ โป๏ธ

Our theme this term is our community and our environment, the children have really enjoyed the theme this half of term and we look forward to exciting activities for the next half.

This week we have been playing in our new construction area in the garden and weโve been having so much fun!
We have also been learning about our environment and the important people in our community such as fire fighters police etc, we have even been making a fire engine out of junk modelling!

We have had a great few weeks at Preschool, and apologies if the children are singing Christmas songs already ๐we thought we would get ahead of the game !
We have made a few changes to the hall over the weekend adding a new cosy lounge with real cups and saucers, food etc to make the experience more realistic. We have started our forest school activities, which we are all enjoying ๐
We hope you have a great half term week and we look forward to some exciting activities when we get back such as our pumpkin decorating competition!!

This week we have enjoyed looking at our topic under the sea! Talking about different creatures, where they live what type of water etc. We have also made a submarine and did the water cycle experiment, using seam and a cold glass. We are making the most of our last sunflowers and enjoying the nice weather in the garden .

A huge well done to all the leavers who did an amazing job at the summer concert yesterday!!! We are all very proud of you. So far this week we have enjoyed lots of our door activities such as tag rugby, bowling, football and using the mist bottles to sq**rt our friends. Next week will be the last for many of you and we intend to make the most of it and party every day!

This week we have been testing out all of our new sports equipment such as tennis, tag rugby and football, it has been lots of fun. We have also planted our vegetables in the garden along with herbs and sunflowers and we canโt wait to watch them grow. We have all made a crown and we will be wearing them at the afternoon tea parties that we are having to celebrate the Jubilee. We hope that you all enjoy the half term holiday next week, we canโt wait to hear what you got up to!!

This week we have enjoyed making rainbow cards for valentines day to give to someone special!!! We have talked about the life cycle of a butterfly and then made symmetrical butterfly paintings. Some of the children got very creative with the cars and garages !

This week we have been enjoying our cosmic yoga sesssions! We have been practicing to butter our own toast at breakfast. On Tuesday we ate sweet and sour vegetables and rice to celebrate Chinese New Year, we also watched some Chinese dragon dancing.

This week we have been working on name recognition, letter formation and understanding the sounds in our names. We have played the shopping list game and talked about healthy food, as well as at snack time when
we are making our snack choices. The height chart has encouraged the children to talk about who is the tallest, shortest, smallest, biggest etc.
