From day one in the classroom to graduation day, what an incredible two weeks for our learners on the North Leatherhead Construction Readiness Programme at Therfield School! 🛠🎓
Over an intensive 10 days, this 16–19 cohort transformed into site-ready professionals, taking part in a full programme designed to kickstart real careers in construction:
Hands-on Certifications: Earned essential industry qualifications, including Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment, CSCS Card accreditation, Emergency First Aid at Work, and Fire Warden training.
Live Site Experience: Visited Taylor Wimpey’s Sondes Meadows development alongside local stakeholders and industry speakers from Kier and CITB to see commercial building operations up close.
Teamwork & Morale: Headed over to Therfield School Sports Hall for a dedicated sports afternoon, building the communication, trust, and collaboration needed on an active site.
Career Pathways & Graduation: Completed CV building with Clarion Futures, booked their CSCS tests, and celebrated their achievements at our official end-of-course awards presentation!
A massive thank you to our programme partners, Therfield School, Kier Construction, Taylor Wimpey, Clarion Futures, KBR, Rotary and St John’s School, for making this free training initiative possible.

Based on the official standard, apprentices develop technical competencies and core knowledge areas to support career progression toward management responsibilities, including:
IT and Document Production: Skilled in utilising multiple IT packages (such as MS Office) to write correspondence, create proposals, manage databases, perform financial processes, and produce accurate records, files, and data analyses.
Decision Making and Problem Solving: Exercising proactivity, mature judgement, and sound reasoning to handle workplace challenges, make effective decisions, and resolve complex complaints.
Planning, Organisation, and Project Management: Taking responsibility for initiating and completing tasks, managing resources, logistics, meetings, and events, whilst utilising project management principles to scope, plan, monitor, and report on projects.
