Massive thank you to the staff at Birmingham Royal Ballet for providing some of our lucky students across the Black Country Music Hub with such a fantastic opportunity today!

The workshop involved watching rehearsals of the upcoming production of Swan Lake with the students participating in performing repertoire and accompaniment, with talks and advice received from conductors and pianists throughout the day. 🎶🎹🩰 We’ve had a brilliant day!

🎺 NEW! SIPS JUNIOR BRASS BAND 🎺

Is your child ready to take the next step in their brass-playing journey?

We’re excited to launch our SIPS Junior Brass Band — a fun, friendly opportunity for young musicians to develop their playing, make music together and become part of a band! 🎶

📅 Thursdays
⏰ 5:00–6:15pm
📍 Shireland CBSO Academy, Providence Place, West Bromwich

🎵 Who is it for?
Players who can play and read their first 5 notes.

Whether they play trumpet, cornet, trombone, euphonium, tuba or another brass instrument, we’d love to welcome them!

Come along, make music and discover what it’s like to be part of a brass band. 🎺🎶

Ready to join us? Get in touch with SIPS Education for more information.

Music Centre Awards Night 2026

It was a wonderful evening celebrating the achievements, dedication and commitment of the young musicians at the Music Centre Awards Night 2026. Each Music Centre group recognised outstanding members through the Music Centre Group Award and Above and Beyond Award, highlighting the incredible talent and contribution across all our ensembles.

Congratulations to the Overall Music Centre Award Winner, James Lloyd (pictured with Janet and Graham Poole). A talented trombone and euphonium player, James is a valued member of the Music Centre. Alongside his own musical achievements, he consistently goes above and beyond to help others. We are delighted that James will be continuing his musical journey at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire this September and wish him every success for the future.

The evening also provided an opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to Janet and Graham Poole. For over 30 years, Janet and Graham have been a driving force behind the SIPS Music Friends Group, giving countless hours of encouragement, support and dedication. Their impact on generations of young musicians and families has been immense, and their legacy will live on for many years to come. They will be greatly missed in their familiar roles however we look forward to seeing them enjoying future events from the audience. Thank you, Janet and Graham, for everything you have done!

Congratulations to all! 🎶
