We’re proud to announce that Jessica in Year 7 has been named a Young Poet Laureate, here in the Midlands.👏
Throughout their writing journey, Jessica has demonstrated creativity, originality and the confidence to express themselves through poetry. Their work reflects the power of poetry to help young people explore ideas, emotions and experiences in meaningful ways.
The Young Poet Laureate programme, delivered in collaboration with and , champions young voices across the country and celebrates poetry as a bold, diverse and accessible form of writing.
At a time when many young people worry about “getting it wrong”, poetry offers the freedom to experiment, take risks and find your voice — and we’re delighted to see Jessica recognised through this programme.

We recently had a fantastic visit from a WW1 reenactor, giving both our Year 8 and Year 10 students a truly engaging and memorable experience.
Year 8 enjoyed a brilliant taster of their upcoming final theme, while Year 10 benefited from a valuable recap of their historic environment. It was great to see students so involved and enthusiastic throughout the sessions.
We also opened the experience up at the end of the day, giving other year groups the opportunity to explore the artefacts and bring history to life beyond the classroom.

Year 11 students recently took part in an inspiring engineering workshop led by Dr Ahmed Rezk, Reader and Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Aston University.
He explored what studying and working as a mechanical engineer involves, linking maths and science lessons to real‑world applications through engaging demonstrations, including engines and aerospace systems.
Students were able to see engineering concepts in action and take part themselves, helping to bring the subject to life. The session aimed to raise aspirations and support students as they consider post‑16 and post‑18 pathways.

🥾🌿 Silver Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition 🌿🥾
Last week, a group of our Year 10 students successfully completed their Silver DofE practice expedition over two days in Cannock Chase. Students confidently navigated their routes using maps and compass points while working effectively as a team.
On day two, they explored Splitting Mill Waterfall, enjoying a well‑earned rest before returning to camp to prepare and cook their evening meal independently.
⭐ Throughout the expedition, students showed fantastic resilience and maturity—supporting one another with pitching tents, sharing equipment, keeping warm in the evenings and encouraging teammates when challenges arose.
🎶 Camp spirits were high with singing (including some Justin Bieber favourites!), competitive games of Uno, toasting marshmallows on the fire, and even nighttime walks through the forest.
🌍 They represented the school brilliantly, following the Countryside Code and showing great respect for the environment.
We are extremely proud of the teamwork, leadership and problem‑solving skills on display—a brilliant effort and a great step towards their full Silver expedition.
