Year 13 students at Sandwell Academy have once again celebrated some fantastic results in their A Level and BTEC qualifications. Outstanding outcomes include 34% of grades at A*/A or Distinction*/Distinction, and 92% A-C or Distinction-Merit, with 99.9% of qualifications achieving a pass. There have been some fantastic individual outcomes for students, with a number of students securing straight A*/A/Distinction grades.

James Saunders, Headteacher said, “against the backdrop of negative national attitudes around the prospects of young people in the UK today, I am delighted to see Sandwell Academy students succeeding in not only bucking the trend, but totally inverting it. I am so proud of the students and their families and wish them the best in their future endeavours. Credit must also be paid to our brilliant staff, who go above and beyond for our students every single day.”

On our Enrichment day, we had The CODE Show and The Gaming Pad arrive at the Academy for our Year 10s.

At the CODE Show, students explored British technology from the 70s onwards including the Sinclair C5 and British games on a variety of retro consoles. Some students were confused as to the high pitched noise coming from the CRTs but overall, the students were fully engaged.

Additionally, the Gaming Pad was a hit, drawing out the competitive spirit of our students through the latest console releases.

Sandwell Academy enjoyed an incredible Sports Day, and we couldn't be prouder of every student who took part.

From the track and field events to the house relays, the whole Academy came alive with energy, determination and brilliant team spirit. Personal bests were smashed, the 3G was roaring, and our students showed exactly what it means to compete with heart, while cheering each other on.

A huge congratulations to everyone who crossed the finish line, cleared the bar and gave it their all out on the field. Sports day is not just about the medals; it's about resilience, camaraderie and being part of something bigger, and our students embodied that all day long.

Here's to next year!

During the last week of term, we held our Enrichment Day, where students enjoyed a wide range of exciting activities. Over the coming weeks, we'll be highlighting each of these experiences.

Starting with Enterprise and Careers, our Year 8 students had a fascinating morning learning about construction and architecture with Hadley Group, as well as attending a Barclays session on money mules.

Hadley Group challenged students to construct the tallest tower possible using only spaghetti, tape and Blu Tack. Meanwhile, Barclays delivered an informative talk explaining what money mules are, the risks involved, and how to avoid becoming one.

It was an incredibly engaging morning for our Year 8 students, and we're sure they came away both informed and inspired, with a greater understanding of engineering and the career opportunities it can offer.

This year marks a remarkable milestone as Sandwell Academy celebrates 20 years of serving our community.
For two decades, the Academy has been a place where students have discovered their talents, achieved their goals and created lasting memories. Generations of young people have passed through our doors, supported by dedicated staff and a community committed to excellence and opportunity.
Together, we reflected on the Academy's journey, reconnected with familiar faces and celebrated the achievements, experiences and people that have helped shape Sandwell Academy over the past 20 years.
20 years of opportunity. 20 years of achievement. 20 years of Sandwell Academy.

Our Year 11s celebrated the end of their GCSEs with their Prom. Ditching their Academy uniform for dresses and tuxedos.

There was live music performances by students, and plenty of dancing the night away. A memorable evening to celebrate a huge achievement!

Best of luck Year 11, we know you'll do amazing, whether that be returning for Sixth Form or going elsewhere.

Recently, we completed Session 16 of the Embedding Formative Assessment programme and celebrated this important milestone with our staff, recognising everything that has been achieved over the past two years.

Next year, we are excited to continue our journey by taking part in the Going Further with Formative Assessment programme, entering our third year of professional learning.

It has been fantastic to see the positive impact the programme has had on teaching and learning across the Academy. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to enhance the learning experience and outcomes for all of our students.
