⚖️ Exploring careers in law ⚖️
Our students at Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form recently took part in a Legal Careers and Skills Event in collaboration with BPP College & University.
Throughout the day, our students gained valuable insight into the legal profession, exploring different pathways into law and hearing directly from legal professionals about their career journeys and qualification routes.👩⚖️
A highlight was an interactive mock murder trial, where students worked in teams as a jury, reviewed evidence and delivered a verdict, bringing legal processes to life in a practical and engaging way.
They also developed their networking skills through a speed networking session with professionals, before finishing with a Q&A and guidance to support their future aspirations.
A fantastic opportunity to build confidence, skills and real insight into the legal world 👏

Inspiring the next generation of scientists👩🔬
We were delighted to welcome Emeritus Professor Mike Ward from Birmingham City University to Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form for two inspiring talks, hosted by our Physics lecturer Dr Avtar Singh.
Students from across disciplines, including future nurses, engineers and aspiring physicists, were fully engaged as Professor Ward shared his journey into physics, the realities of life as a scientist and advice for shaping their futures.
His ability to connect with such a wide range of learners made the sessions truly memorable.
A big thank you to Professor Ward for his time, insight and enthusiasm 👏

Our Applied and A-Level Law students enjoyed an engaging and informative visit to the National Justice Museum in Nottingham this week.
During the visit, learners took part in an immersive mock trial focusing on knife crime, assuming roles including judge, barrister, witness and juror. The experience helped develop their legal knowledge and practical skills, while also encouraging reflection on the wider impact of crime on victims, defendants, families and communities.
Students also explored the museum’s historic courtrooms, Georgian gaols, Victorian women’s prison, dungeons and gallows, and participated in a fascinating workshop analysing evidence from a high-profile Edwardian murder case.
The day concluded with time to explore exhibitions covering topics such as capital punishment, protests and riots, and forensic pathology.
It was a highly valuable experience, providing students with a deeper understanding of the history and development of crime, justice and the law, while bringing classroom learning to life.
Well done to all students who represented the college so positively throughout the visit!

A brilliant cross college collaboration as our ESOL and A Level French learners came together for a dynamic language exchange project. ↔️
This initiative gave native French speaking ESOL students the chance to boost their English skills while helping our French learners from Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form build fluency and confidence.
The session was full of energy: ESOL students delivered engaging cultural presentations and shared their favourite francophone music, while French students came prepared with thoughtful questions in both French and English.
The conversations were genuinely inspiring. A truly empowering experience for everyone involved, and a fantastic example of how collaborative learning can elevate achievement and enrich the student journey. 💗🧡💚
