Wembury Marine Centre The best place to learn about Wembury Marine Conservation Area and its marine wildlife! These go some way to shielding it from the human pressures.

Wembury in South Devon is a magnet for wildlife – its rocky cliffs are home to nesting seabirds and the rocky shore, slate reefs and massive wave-cut platforms provide one of the United Kingdom’s best spots for marine life. Wembury and the surrounding coastline form a Marine Conservation Area (MCA) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). Wembury Marine Centre is the ideal place to learn about th

e surrounding area and its wildlife through interactive displays, regular rockpool & snorkel safaris and other marine themed events. The Centre also explains the part you can play in keeping Wembury special. The Marine Centre is open to the public seasonally, Tuesday-Sunday from Easter to the end of September. There are a few exceptions to our opening hours so please email or call ahead if you are making a special trip to visit us!

In our latest blog, our CEO, Nick Bruce-White, sets the record straight on the false claims that rewilding increases wildfire risk, and explains why restoring natural processes is so important.

For more than 150 years, we have drained wetlands, straightened rivers and removed temperate rainforests and Culm grasslands, reducing our landscapes’ ability to naturally hold water.

By restoring these natural processes we can create healthier, more resilient landscapes, safer from wildfires, drought and flooding, while providing huge benefits for wildlife and society.
