A Celebration of the Life of John Stansell
We will be holding a memorial to Celebrate the Life of John Stansell at the Eddystone Inn at Heybrook Bay on Monday 10th August at 1 pm. There is an open invitation to all who would like to join us in remembering the many aspects of John's life.
The ceremony will start shortly after 1pm and will be followed by a buffet when there will be the opportunity to chat and share memories of John.

Come and join us on Monday at Derriford Hospital for some FREE bug finding fun!

We'll be running 3 drop in sessions over the day, where we will be looking for all sorts of critters, and foraging for materials to build bug hotels with.

An exciting opportunity for home educated children and their families in our wonderful woodland ... coming this September!

🌿 We are so excited to finally announce that our Forest Home Ed sessions will be starting this September! 🌿

Finding the right person to lead these sessions was incredibly important to us, so we knew we couldn't rush the decision. We wanted someone who truly shares our values and passion for nurturing children through nature—and we couldn't be happier to welcome Faye to the Churchwood team.

Faye has worked as a qualified Occupational Therapist across children's and adult services for the past 12 years. Throughout her career, she has loved supporting people of all ages to develop, grow and thrive through activities that are meaningful to them. Combining that philosophy with her passion for the outdoors makes this role a true dream come true.

Faye is passionate about creating a nurturing, welcoming environment where children can discover the natural world through play, curiosity, exploration and adventure, while building confidence, resilience and a lifelong love of the outdoors.

We can't wait for Faye to join the Churchwood family this September, and she can't wait to meet all of our wonderful home-educating families.

Keep an eye on our page over the coming weeks for more information about the sessions, how they'll run and how to book. We can't wait to begin this exciting new chapter with you! 🌲🍂

Last week at Forest School, we turned our attention to the seashore. 🌊🦀

Living so close to the coast, we think it’s important that children learn about the incredible marine life on their doorstep. We explored local rockpool and shoreline species, practised identifying what we found, and talked about how plastic pollution and discarded fishing gear affect our seas.

Through play, exploration and conversation, we’re helping to nurture curiosity, respect for nature, and a sense of responsibility for caring for our local environment—one small step at a time. 💙🌿
