Thrilling Thursday at the holiday club! For the first time this summer, the woods felt cool and slightly damp like they usually do - perhaps this prompted the amazing make believe game about rainforest and dinosaurs. The mud kitchen could barely keep up with the production of dino food! The woods felt really magical with all the monsters and fictional characters running around and happily playing together. We can't believe it's our final day tomorrow!

Wonderful Wednesday at the holiday club! Some of us spent hours playing a very exciting game of tag, which quickly evolved into a narrative - all about investigating and looking for clues 🔍🤓 Some of us tried their face painting skills, with some stunning results 🤩🦋 We had a fabulous day all around 😀

What a tremendous Tuesday we had at Forest School Holiday Club, packed full of creativity, adventure, and campfire treats! We got stuck into crafts by sawing our own wood cookies, using hand drills, and adding gems and pens to make beautiful necklaces, while others transformed into zebras and unicorns with some awesome face painting. The children showed fantastic focus whittling staffs, spears, and marshmallow sticks, before heading off to climb trees where some practically "lived" for the afternoon! The mud kitchen was buzzing with creativity as they baked coffee cake, started a forest cafe, and competed in a "Great Forest Bake Off." To top off a perfect day, everyone practiced their amazing fire lighting skills again to get a roaring fire going, finishing up by eating scrumptious marshmallows. 🌲🥞🔥

🌲 What an incredible Monday we had at Holiday Club today! Our creative campers stayed busy with crafts, decorating canvas bags with stamps, gems, and leaf hammering, as well as making beautiful custom cards and envelopes. The adventure continued as the children whittled sticks to make their own spears, arrows, wands, and marshmallow toasting sticks, and even engineered and experimented with balancing on a homemade see-saw! We even had time for some awesome face painting and a highly energetic, real-life game of Among Us out in the woods.

What Will Our Home Ed Sessions Look Like?

It can feel quite scary for a child to attend a setting they have never been to before. At Churchwood Forest School CIC, we pride ourselves on making our setting as accessible and welcoming as possible, giving every child the opportunity to feel safe, included and able to thrive.

Our Daily Rhythm gives both you and your child an insight into what the day will look like, whether your child is attending independently or with you. Having a familiar rhythm and knowing what to expect can help children feel more comfortable and confident as they settle into our forest setting.

Each session follows a gentle, predictable structure, including time to arrive and settle, explore the woodland, gather around the fire circle, enjoy a snack and take part in a range of wild craft and nature-based activities.

Each week, Faye will introduce a different theme to help engage and inspire the children. These themes may encourage exploration, creativity, curiosity and learning about the natural world. However, our sessions are not rigid. We understand that children learn in different ways and that sometimes their own interests, ideas and discoveries can lead the day in a completely different direction.

Children will be given the space, time and opportunity to “hold court”** when and if they want to — sharing their interests, knowledge, ideas and passions with the group. We value these moments and recognise that some of the most meaningful learning happens when children feel confident enough to take the lead.

Our Home Ed sessions are about more than following a plan. They are about building relationships, developing confidence, exploring interests, connecting with nature and creating a space where every child can be themselves.
