People Who Help Us
People who help us is such a fun theme in the early years. It’s also an incredibly important topic to get children to know who can help them when they have a problem. There are so many people who help us in our everyday lives. Some help us with day to day and others when it’s an emergency. It’s crucial to get children to understand people who help us in emergency situations and that this is done in a way that makes children feel safe.
We also enjoyed reading stories about nurses, doctors and the police and produced some fantastic arts and crafts work.

Personal, social and emotional development (PSED) is really important in the Early years. It supports children to learn to get on with others and make friends, understand and talk about feelings, learn about 'right' and 'wrong', develop independence and ultimately feel good about themselves.
We had four fabulous days to begin our last half term
( Where has the time gone!?) And looked at our emotions and discussed why we feel certain ways....we also discussed what we could do if we weren't feeling happy or felt a bit scared.

A mouse took a stroll through a deep , dark wood.
A fox saw the mouse and the mouse looked good!
This week was all things Gruffalo!
We read stories, made masks, made the Gruffalo, explored outside, played a griffalo bingo game and learnt a Gruffalo song.
We had fun, we hope the children did too!
The children really enjoyed learning and performing the gruffalo song. Please find the link 👇

We love looking at different authors at preschool, and this week was one of my favourites! Julia Donaldson.
Julia Donaldson CBE is an English writer and playwright, and the 2011–2013 Children's Laureate. She is best known for her popular rhyming stories for children, especially those illustrated by Axel Scheffler, which include The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, squash and a squeeze and Stick Man.
We had a blast creating, making, drawing and colouring in different characters from her stories.

May Day, celebrated on May 1st (or the first Monday in May), is a traditional UK holiday marking the start of summer and the end of winter, celebrating new life and nature. We read books about flowers, crafted flowers, planted our seedlings and enjoyed our outside!
