β¨ Creating Meaningful Learning Through Montesspire β¨
As part of our 6-Week Montesspire Course, our dedicated practitioners are designing and creating their own meaningful Montessori-inspired activities to support children's learning and development.
This fantastic Word Compounds activity helps children develop their vocabulary, early reading skills, and language awareness by combining two words to create a new word. In these photos, children explored the compound word "cupcake" by matching cup + cake together.
It's wonderful to see our team applying their learning into creative, hands-on experiences that inspire curiosity and build strong foundations for literacy. π

βοΈ Exploring Heavy and Light βοΈ
Our children have been learning about the concepts of heavy and light using a variety of resources and hands-on activities.
They enjoyed comparing different objects and using a balance scale to investigate which items were heavier or lighter. Understanding weight is an important life skill that children use in everyday situations, from carrying objects to making comparisons and solving problems.
Through practical exploration, children developed their observation, prediction, and critical thinking skills while learning new vocabulary such as heavy, light, heavier, and lighter.
At East Lane Montessori, we believe children learn best through real experiences that make learning meaningful and fun. π Learning through discovery, exploration, and play!

π¦βοΈ Cooling Off While Learning! βοΈπ¦
With the hot weather continuing, our children have been enjoying lots of exciting water play to help them stay cool while having fun!
Using a variety of resources such as ice, water, cups, jugs, and containers, the children have been exploring pouring, mixing, scooping, and transferring water. They loved feeling the cold water and ice in their hands, talking about how it felt and watching the ice slowly melt.
Water play provides so many wonderful learning opportunities. As the children pour, measure, and experiment, they are developing their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, early mathematical concepts, scientific thinking, and language.
Most importantly, they are learning through play while keeping cool during the heat wave! What a fantastic way to beat the heat and make the most of summer at nursery! π§π§π

πποΈ Bringing The Beach To Nursery! ποΈπ
During the recent heat wave, many of our children enjoyed trips to the beach to stay cool. When they returned, they were full of excitement and could not wait to share their adventures with their friends!
Inspired by their stories, we created our very own mini beach at nursery using shells, stones, and plants that the children had collected and brought in from their visits.
What a wonderful way to encourage the children to talk about their experiences, develop their language skills, and continue their learning through play. Together, we explored the different treasures they had found and discussed the types of aquatic animals they might see at the beach, sparking lots of curiosity and fantastic conversations.
It has been lovely to see the children relive their happy memories while learning together in such a meaningful way. πππ¦π

πΈ Learning About the Life Cycle of a Frog πΈ
Our children enjoyed learning about the fascinating life cycle of a frog, exploring how frogs grow and change from tadpoles into adult frogs. These learning experiences help prepare children for Reception, where they will encounter similar topics as part of the curriculum.
At East Lane Montessori, we aim to give children a strong foundation from nursery, helping them feel confident and ready for the next stage of their learning journey.
Activities like these also introduce new vocabulary, encourage discussions, and provide opportunities for children to share their observations and experiences with their peers. π±
