Carter’s Sunflowers CIC is a nursery for children who would benefit from a personalised approach to learning.

Our approaches are particularly suited for children with communication, social interaction and sensory needs.

For some children, September will mean returning to familiar faces, routines and spaces. For others, everything will be brand new. New people, new surroundings and a whole new adventure.
However September feels for each child, we’ll take it at their pace. There’s no rush and no expectation to settle, learn or join in before they’re ready. Our first job is to build trust, connection and a sense of safety, everything else can grow from there.
And of course, September also marks the beginning of a new chapter for the children who left us in the summer and will be starting their new schools. We’ll be thinking of you as you begin your next adventure and cheering you on every step of the way.
To all of our families, old and new, we can’t wait to welcome you back and begin another year together. We will see you soon 🌻

This weekend, successfully completed the 15km Tough Mudder, taking on mud, challenging obstacles and everything in between—all with a smile on his face—while raising money for Carter’s Sunflowers. We are incredibly grateful for your amazing effort, dedication and support. Every step, climb and muddy obstacle you conquered will help us continue providing specialist support, learning opportunities and life-changing experiences for the autistic children and families at Carter’s Sunflowers.
Ryan has raised an incredible £1,405! 🎉 What an amazing achievement! Every single pound raised will make a real difference to the children and families we support.
A huge thank you also goes to everyone who donated. Your generosity, encouragement and support mean the world to us. We simply couldn’t continue to grow and provide the specialist services we do without our wonderful community standing beside us.

We’re incredibly proud to share that one of our wonderful parents Ryan Pearman is taking on the 15km Tough Mudder to raise money for Carter’s Sunflowers! On Saturday 4th July, Ryan will be tackling 15 kilometres packed with demanding obstacles, mud, and endurance tests—all to help us continue providing specialist support for autistic children and their families.
As a small Community Interest Company, every pound raised makes a real difference. Your support helps us continue creating opportunities, resources and specialist experiences that enable our children to thrive.

Carter’s Sunflowers has achieved the National Autistic Society Autism Specialist Award at an advanced level!

This is such a huge milestone for us and reflects the dedication, passion, and commitment of our incredible team, who work every day to provide the highest quality support for our children.

The Autism Accreditation Committee recognised our strong, embedded understanding of evidence-informed autism practice, highlighting our child-centred approach, total communication environment, and the safe, inclusive spaces we create where children feel understood and able to thrive.

Five years ago, we opened our doors to just six children with a mission to transform early years experiences for autistic children… and today, we are so proud to see that vision recognised. Thank you to our amazing staff, families, and community for your continued support, we couldn’t have done this without you 🌻

Today is Autism Acceptance day but at Carter’s Sunflowers, this isn’t just a date on the calendar… it’s our every day.
It’s in the quiet moments where a child is finally understood without needing words.
It’s in the patience, the connection, the small but powerful breakthroughs that others might miss.
It’s in the way we celebrate every child as they are — not for who they might become, but for who they already are.
We see the beauty in different ways of communicating, playing, and experiencing the world.
We stand beside our children and their families — on the hard days, the joyful days, and all the in-between moments.
Because acceptance isn’t a campaign. It’s love, it’s respect, it’s belonging… every single day. Today, and always, we are proud to be a place where every child is truly seen 🌻

We’re delighted to welcome James Hunt, founder of Stories About Autism and S.A.A Clothing, and author of the wonderful book Love Needs No Words, to Carter’s Sunflowers Nursery! James will be joining us on Wednesday 18th March at 10am for a Q&A session and book signing. This is a fantastic opportunity to hear more about his journey, autism advocacy, and the inspiration behind his work. Books will be available to purchase on the day, or you can buy your copy in advance and bring it along to be signed.
We are really looking forward to welcoming James and sharing this special event with our community 🌻
