My last day in school today before breaking up for Christmas 🎄🎄

In the past term I’ve assessed almost 50 students across Hertfordshire, Essex and London, am already fully booked up to February half term with spaces going quickly for the rest of the year as well!

The first day of a busy half term. Over the next seven weeks I’ll be assessing nearly 30 students across three different schools. Phew 😅

🍰🥂🎉 Cake, champers and celebrations to mark the first year (and three days, ooops!) of Sarah Mansfield Assessments.

In the past year I’ve had the pleasure of assessing 45 lovely students spread across 5 different secondary schools, as well as several home educators.

This year has been amazing, and I’m already nearly booked up till the end of 2022!

I absolutely love what I do and the way I get to help so many young people 💗

Once I have completed your report, I’ll advise whether the results from the assessment mean that you are eligible to apply.

The deadline is fast approaching for this year’s JCQ Access Arrangements which means everyone is trying to fit in their assessing before that date. And some are also getting a start on next year’s Year 10s too.

Sessions in school last week, this week and next week for one school.

It’s wonderful to meet these fantastic young people and hear about their future aspirations, knowing that the extra support they get in their exams can help them achieve those goals 💗

“What assessments do you offer, and why are there different types?”

I often get asked this question. If you look on my website, you’ll see that there are three main assessments I offer: Comprehensive Assessment Profile, Focussed Assessment Profile and Brief Assessment Profile.

For most, a Comprehensive Assessment Profile is what they request, as it covers a bit of everything, and for most parents that’s what they’re looking for. An overall picture of their child that provides enough detail to parents and/or teachers in each area to help support them and highlight any potential difficulties. The assessments often uncover previously-unknown areas of strengths and weaknesses, and for some children this can be the start of their needs being recognised and them receiving the support or stretching that they need.

Sometimes though, a parent knows the area that they want information on without needing an overall picture and for these parents a Focussed Assessment Profile is most suitable. For example, if the child has already been diagnosed with dyslexia and the parents want an update on how they’re progressing, they may not need the additional Maths, VI and IQ testing. Or, a parent may simply be interested in knowing their child’s IQ without any need for subject-specific assessments. And occasionally a parent wants a report that goes beyond the Comprehensive Assessment Profile and therefore opts to combine a few of the Focussed Assessment Profiles, with the assessments taking place over several days.

The final assessment, the Brief Assessment Profile, is for those seeking a quick assessment to gain an idea of their child’s IQ, or to confirm or refute the suspicion of a visual processing or motor coordination difficulty. These assessments take less than an hour and can be particularly helpful to parents of younger children who wish to get an idea of intelligence, yet where the child isn’t ready or old enough to sit through a longer assessment yet.

Today, I had the pleasure of assessing a remarkable young boy. And now, I have some new bedtime reading.

Continuing to read and research around my assessments and testing areas is important, not just to ensure I have enough CPD to maintain my British Psychological Society membership, but also to make sure that I provide the very best service to all the parents who trust me to understand and interpret their children’s test results accurately and give the most beneficial recommendations.

I can’t wait to get stuck into writing today’s report!
