As we head towards summer, some of you might be thinking about the transition to primary school in September. Over the next 5 weeks, we will be exploring ideas on how you can support your child to prepare for this new adventure!

Here are a few tips to help your little one get ready:

🧥 Develop independence: practice dressing, eating , and using the toilet.
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Plan playdates or visits to Grandparents to get used to being apart.
🎲 Encourage taking turns when playing to understand sharing.
🗣️ Talk positively about school and discuss what they might do there.

Look out for our webinars to help support your child’s development, and come along to our Stay and Play or Family Fun events over the summer holidays for more help and advice.

Did you know that the Healthy Start scheme helps families on a low-income to buy essential food & milk?

All children deserve a healthy start in life and with the scheme, eligible families can get help towards the cost of healthy fruit, vegetables and milk.

Hertfordshire’s Healthy Start scheme is approximately £1million underclaimed. Our aim is to let families know more about the help available to them.

Exciting News - Gargs Animal encounters is coming to visit on Wednesday 17th May.

If your child does not normally attend a Wednesday Morning Session you are welcome to bring your child in for this 1 hour visit at 10:45. An adult must stay with your child for the duration of the visit.

Gargs Animal Parties, Animal education, With the rising cost of coach hire and the hassle of taking children out of school, we are available for school visits to cover a wide range of topics such as Mini beasts, Rain forests, Adaptation, Life cycle etc.

Harvest Festival.

Each year Hardings support our local food bank over the Harvest Festival Period.

We are asking for parents/carers and staff to make donations.

Any food donations would be very welcome – they need to be non-perishable and within their ‘use by’ date. Items that are particularly in need are tinned fruits – pineapple/peaches/fruit cocktail etc, tinned veg, cooking oil, small jars of coffee (90g), tinned meat, packets of rice, tinned rice pudding, tinned spaghetti or mac cheese and washing up liquid.

Over the next few weeks, you will see a box at drop off and pick up where you can place your donations.

Foodbank – New Zion Christian Fellowship Foodbank We are home to Foodbank, an organisation dedicated to serving those in our community. Each week we see around 30-35 people who have been given food vouchers by their care professional and we provide a free emergency food parcel to help them, whilst in difficult circumstances. With the temperature set to sore throughout the rest of the week can you please make sure your child has had sun lotion applied before they start their session.

Children will also need a hat for the garden.

There will be lots of water play too so please make sure we have spare clothes here at the setting for your child.
