Year 5 and 6 visited the American museum last week. It is located in an old Mansion house near Bath. We listened to a talk from the museum about the history of slavery, looked around the museum, learned about patchwork quilts both old and modern some of which had been inspired by the slaves’ African heritage and were able to handle objects from America.

The Great St Cuthbert’s Bake Off

Mrs McLaren has worked with Year 5/6 children as part of their PSHE learning to plan and arrange a cake sale to raise funds for ‘The Space’ which is based in Cheddar and supports children’s mental health and well-being.

The children have spent their break times selling cakes and they have been very proud of their efforts.

In addition to this, Year 5/6 wanted to arrange a ‘bake off’ style competition. Children, supported by their parents, had spent a lot of time at home baking and decorating their cake and there were some really creative ideas along the theme of ‘Space’. 4 winners from upper school and 4 winners from lower school were announced in assembly and they will receive a full afternoon of cookery with Mrs McLaren and Mrs Dare. A huge thank you to Mrs McLaren and Year 5/6 for making this happen!
