🎉 Wells Cathedral School is delighted to announce another year of magnificent GCSE results, with pupils celebrating excellent individual achievements across a wide range of subjects.

The results reflect the breadth of achievement across the Year group, with pupils achieving highly in academic subjects alongside the Creative Arts, Music, Languages, Sport and other areas of School life.

✨ We’re finalists! ✨

We’re thrilled to announce that Wells Cathedral School has been named a finalist for ‘Dance School of the Year’ at The Dance School Awards 2026! 🩰🎉

The award celebrates schools that demonstrate achievement, a positive impact on their pupils and community, strong values, a commitment to wellbeing, and dedication to supporting and developing dancers – qualities we’re incredibly proud to champion at Wells.

Selected from more than a thousand entries, this is fantastic recognition for our wonderful Dance community and everything they do at Wells. Most importantly, this recognition belongs to our brilliant pupils, whose hard work, commitment and passion shine through in their training, performances, grades and competitions. A huge congratulations, too, to the staff who inspire and support them every step of the way. 💙

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London on 6th September.

When we asked some of our leavers what they will miss most about Wells, the answer was simple: the people.

🎉 Wells Cathedral School pupils have enjoyed success across the breadth of A level subjects offered at our Sixth Form, from Sciences and Humanities to the Creative Arts. Among the highlights were 100% of pupils achieving A* to B in Drama, Geography, Geology, PE and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), while 100% of pupils achieved A* to C in Art, History, Music Technology and Further Mathematics.

🔎 Of the 261 exam entries, 189 were awarded A*-B, accounting for over 72% of all results, with 31% of pupils achieving AAB or better, while 30% achieved at least one A*. 41% of our pupils’ results were A*-A grades, once again significantly surpassing the national average of 28.3%.
