St Cuthberts Mill and LYRA have teamed up for a watercolour giveaway, giving three artists the chance to win a set of professional watercolour pencils and traditionally made English watercolour paper.

Three winners will each receive:

Ambassador Daniel Lopez shares how Saunders Waterford® rolls are part of his creative process, "Some materials don’t just support the process - they shape it.

Working from a paper roll has changed the way I approach watercolour. Instead of adapting an idea to a standard sheet, I can prepare exactly the format each painting requires, whether that’s a square composition, a long panoramic view or a large-scale piece stretched onto wooden bars.

What I enjoy most is the freedom this gives me. The paper becomes part of the creative process from the very beginning.

I’ve worked on Saunders Waterford for many years because it allows me to paint the way I want to paint. It holds generous washes beautifully, stays remarkably stable even at larger sizes, and its rough surface gives me everything from soft atmospheric passages to expressive dry-brush marks. Above all, it lets the light of the paper remain an active part of the painting."
