Back it up! ⏮
All my clients know I LOVE this move and give it to a good number of my them to do with their horses.
Like most exercises this can be done well or badly, depending on whether you are diligent at training the correct movement or not.
The head and neck needs to stay down and soft, the back lift with the stomach contracting and then a paired controlled movement of the limbs.
Done right this exercise has the potential to activate all the bits of your horse you want switched on as a healthy riding horse.
They all need a strong core for a healthy back, be able to take weight behind behind for power and control and lift in front for elevation and safeguarding of the fragile front limbs.
Of course it’s always best to check in with your horses body worker or trainer that this exercise is suitable and your doing right 😉

When I feed my horses herbs I always ask them first which ones they would like (self selection) and in what sort of amounts.
Often they differ quite a lot but today, (apart from the Marigold flowers which Bozzie wanted loads of) they were all very similar in their requests so today’s herb mix for my boys will include:
💐 Chamomile for calming and anti inflammatory
🍃 Small amount of red clover which is an antioxidant.
☀️Marigold flowers helping with itching and general coat condition (I’ll give Bozzie extra by hand)
🍋A small amount of Lemon balm which is good for cognitive function and anxiety.
They also love the nettles I dry for them which is a good source of amino acids and helps fight any inflammation and cleavers which is good for the lymphatic system.
