We are very excited to be welcoming top athlete Gemma Frizelle to the school on Friday, 28 February 2025
Gemma will be leading a sponsored fitness circuit with all pupils, followed by a motivational assembly, and Q&A session. The aim of the event is to inspire the pupils to be more physically active, but just as importantly, encourage them to discover and pursue their passion in life.
The event will both connect the pupils to an extraordinary athlete role model and raise money for new sports equipment in the school, as well as supporting both athletes and para-athletes, so that they can continue to inspire the next generation.
A sponsorship form has already been sent home with your child; however you may prefer to sponsor your child by visiting:
โข www.greatathletes.org and clicking on the button โSet up a Fundraiser Pageโ
or
โข Scanning the QR code on the poster below
As a thank you, pupils will receive the following thank-you gifts for meeting these milestones:
โข Raise any money: an A5 sheet of motivational stickers
โข Raise ยฃ5 or more: a blue Great Athletes wristband
โข Raise ยฃ15 or more: a blue wristband, and a red wristband with Gemmaโs signature
โข Raise ยฃ30 or more: all of the above, plus a signed Gemma Frizelle poster
Whichever route you decide to take to sponsor your child, everything needs to be completed one week after the event has taken place.
Our thanks in advance to supporting such a memorable event.

Happy National Storytelling Week! ๐
IKB School had an absolute blast with this year's Mystery Reader event. Every class eagerly listened to their daily clues and loved guessing who their visitor might be. In the afternoon, our mystery visitors shared their favourite stories with each class. ๐
A huge thank you to all our fabulous volunteers for making this another wonderful event!

Our Year 2 children have been getting creative, inspired by the work of artist Paul Klee! This week, they took on the challenge of recreating his Separation in the Evening using only primary colours (red, yellow, and blue) plus black and white. Any other colours they wanted to use for their imitation had to be mixed from scratch! ๐จ
The results? Stunning masterpieces full of vibrant colours and creative flair. Well done, Year 2 โ true artists in the making!

This afternoon, KS1 and KS2 classes all had a very informative workshop led by Mr Smalley from Somerset Road Safety. ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฆ
The children all practised 'Stop, Look, Listen and Think' and learnt about the importance of wearing bright clothing and wearing helmets when cycling and scooting.
Please ask your children about their knowledge and support them in putting it into practise when next out walking and cycling.

Today, we had an amazing time at our weekly playground disco, with so many children (and staff!) showing off their best dance moves โ a fantastic way to wrap up our January Big Exercise Promise! ๐๐บ
We also made the most of the winter sunshine, enjoying the fresh air and fun outside. ๐โฝ
A huge well done to this weekโs chosen children for Friday football! They demonstrated our school attributes all week and enjoyed a fantastic game as their well-earned reward. ๐๐

This week, Year 4 put their historical knowledge into action by creating their own Anglo-Saxon houses! They carefully considered the materials used and then worked together to design a full settlement layout. In doing so, they considered key questions such as:
๐ง Why were settlements built near water sources?
๐ Why was the chiefโs house placed centrally?
Fantastic work, Year 4โyour settlements truly bring the past to life! ๐

Year 3 had a fantastic time yesterday in their online lesson with The National Archives Education Service in London!
The workshop, Image of a King, gave them the chance to explore historical sources that reveal how Henry VIII wanted to be seen.
Did you knowโฆ
๐ He embroidered crowns on his horseโs caparison so, even in armour, his status sould be known?
๐จ He was often painted as physically larger than his peers to appear more powerful?
๐ฆ He used animals like lions and greyhounds to symbolise bravery and loyalty?
A brilliant session bringing history to life!
