It has been a colourful week, building play around the children different experiences & encounters of fireworks. We used conkers to try and get the sound effects which we used the opportunity to build on early sounds and language. We partied and danced with one of our babies in wishing her farewell we ate some strange foods that sparked up some really conversations

What a busy fun & joyous week it has been…we laughed so much re-enacting Hansel and Gretel (the toned down age appropriate version). The children led their learning in various ways and we just followed their lead & enjoyed every minute of it 😊We attempted to make our own candy edible house, we counted the stones to find our way home, we spoke about feelings and being kind, we sang, we danced, we spoke about healthy foods and we discuss Halloween and some of the spooky things we encountered.

Following on from the children walks to see if the Gruffalo is real 🤔 and to bear hunt, they’ve gathered some natural resources which we sustained their interests by introducing the Stick Man story incorporated with our autumn theme 🍂 🪵 🍁

Yesterday “Bear Hunt” tuff tray activity, the children appeared really engaged and the play prolonged for long periods. The older children transported most of the items to our outdoor kitchen area, pretending to make dinner out of mud and grass feeding the bear; whilst the babies attempted to eat most of the items in the tray. Today we’ve decided to explore the story with a food sensory bin small tray (coco pillar cereal, green food coloured dried noodles, spinach & oats). The intention is to talk about healthy foods, our different foods & some of our favourites coming from grains; this should lead nicely into our autumn theme

With all the upheaval & unsettling events, such as the pandemic and setting moves, to say we are incredibly proud of these children developments is an understatement.
