____🌟____ STAR OF THE WEEK _____🌟____

This week’s star of the week is the amazing Ava. Ava’s hard work has really paid off and she shows real understanding of the concepts we are learning. I was extra impressed with her concentration when learning the two times tables this week. Well done, Ava 🌟✨⭐️

I’ve talked to a lot of parents about how their children don’t always look focused but totally are. Sometimes they’re moving around, fiddling, looking at or even talking about other things. Yet, they’re still engaged, learning and retaining information. I’m sure a lot of us struggle to sit completely still and just focus on one thing, yet we often expect children to do so for a long period of time. How many of us do something else whilst watching TV, having a conversation or concentrating? Of course, it’s important to ensure children are engaged but ensuring they’re meeting their own sensory needs will only heighten the learning opportunities. This is just one reason why 1:1 tuition is awesome - I get to know the children so well that I know exactly when they’re focused and when they’re not.

Love this!

Why attend a Little Leaps class?

Well, why wouldn’t you?! If you really need more convincing:

Parenting can be lonely but by attending a class, you get to meet with likeminded people who probably know exactly what you’re experiencing; be it sleep regressions, toddler tantrums or teething. Making new friends to widen your village of support is one of the key aims of Little Leaps classes. Not only do you get the whole time of the session to play with your little one whilst chatting to others, you are free to stay in our secure, fun-filled garden after the session for a hot drink and a natter. Building that village one brick at a time 💪 💪

Classes are designed to complement the EYFS Development Matters framework which has been updated for September 2021 which means your child would be getting the best start. They will benefit from opportunities to practise their communication and language skills, learn about the world, investigate art and design and strengthen their muscles through fine and gross motor activities. 🖊 🧽

You’ll leave with lots of new, creative ideas to recreate yourself (or not!) when you’re in need of something to keep your little one engaged. 🎨

And the best part is…. You get to leave all the mess to me to clear up!*

*except babies - I don’t clean them for you!

Keep your eyes peeled for free taster sessions launching in the next few weeks 🥳🤩✨

Hi lovely followers! 🥰

I know my page is a little quiet but that’s because I’ve been working super hard all summer with some fabulous students. I’m completely FULLY BOOKED for after school sessions from September and I only have a very small amount of weekday, daytime availability for home educated children or adults who may need a little extra support with things like university applications, Harvard referencing, essay planning, proofreading and functional skills.

Alongside this, I am launching parent & child classes (Little Leaps) in September and starting a Masters degree in Developmental Psychology in October so I’m about to be super busy!

Here’s a peek into a 1:1 lesson with the fabulous Grace. ⭐️
We used counters to investigate factors and factor pairs. Then, we embedded the learning by drawing factor rainbows. 🌈
I’m a big fan of Bruner’s CPA approach which recommends taking learning from concrete (using physical resources,) to pictorial (drawing diagrams,) to abstract (using symbols and numbers,) carefully to ensure new concepts are fully understood.
Great work, Grace! ✨

Here is the lovely Corey. 🥳

Corey is my star of the week this week because he has worked incredibly hard on his reading. He read a whopping 5 pages in just 1 night and has increased the amount of words he can sight read.

Keep up the fabulous work, Corey! ✨
