Last month, we were delighted to welcome The Worshipful Company of Bakers to The School! 🧑‍🍳

Their visit was filled with plenty of hands-on baking and learning. They made traditional Pork Pies with Sally-Ann Hunt 🐖, explored the art of patisserie and Viennoiserie with Thomas Soccoja 🥐 and baked a wonderful range of breads with Kevan Roberts — including his signature Spring Onion & Brie Sourdough 🍞

It was a real pleasure to welcome them to The School ☺️🥖🥐

From training room to graduation glass 🍺🥖🎓

As part of their Higher Diploma, our students mastered the art of bread making, creating baguettes and developing essential artisan baking skills. Rather than letting surplus bread go to waste, we teamed up with the brilliant team Welbeck Abbey Brewery , who transformed it into ‘Raising the Dough’, a delicious craft b**r brewed using the students’ leftover bread.

The best part? That very b**r was then served at their graduation, giving students the opportunity to celebrate their achievements with a drink made from the bread they had created themselves.

A true circular food story. Learning, collaboration and sustainability coming together to create something exceptional. From making the bread to raising a glass of the b**r it became, this is a perfect example of how reducing food waste can create high-quality products and memorable experiences. ♻️✨

• Easter Egg Masterclass

Across our four new chocolate courses, you’ll explore a range of professional chocolate-making techniques, including table tempering, moulding and decorating bonbons, creating silky ganaches, sea salted caramel and hand-rolled artisan truffles. A wonderful week of learning on our Creating a Microbakery course. This course combines both theory and hands-on practical sessions in bread baking, patisserie and Viennoiserie.

It’s been fantastic to meet such a wonderful group of bakers and helping to bring ideas to life 🥖🥐🍞🤩
