Year 5 had a fully immersive educational visit last week based around The Victorians. The children learnt about what it was like in a Victorian classroom, the activities the children did back then and even got to sample some punishments! Thank you to everyone who made this visit worthwhile.

The Year 5 children of Tameside visited Shireland Biomedical UTC recently to learn all about Science! The children had an opportunity to use the exceptional facilities and learn about the human body, staying safe and CPR. It was a great day had by all and a pleasure to share the day with fellow Shireland Collegiate Academy Primary schools.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special.

The children in Reception have been studying the amazing book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. While studying the book, the children have learnt all about different fruit, the lifecycle of butterflies and even got to see this wonderful process happening in class in front of their eyes. The writing that has been produced is exceptional. Come and take a look.

We’re pleased to share that good progress has been made following the burst pipe earlier this week, and all standing water has now been cleared from the site.

A specialist team from Severn Trent is currently completing a thorough clean of the affected outdoor areas. As part of this process, we have been advised to allow a short period of time for the site to fully settle before it is used again.

With this in mind, the primary school will remain closed tomorrow (Friday). Monday is the Bank Holiday, and we are planning to reopen as normal on Tuesday.

Thank you for your continued patience and support while this work is completed.

We wanted to update you following yesterday’s communication regarding the burst pipe on site.

While good progress has been made with repairs, there is still some standing water that needs to be cleared safely. On this basis, and following advice from Severn Trent, the primary school will remain closed on Thursday 30th April.

The issue remains external to the buildings, which continue to be unaffected. However, it is important that the site stays clear while the clean-up work is completed.

We are hopeful that this will be resolved shortly and will provide a further update as soon as we are able to confirm arrangements for reopening.

Thank you again for your continued understanding and support.

We wanted to let you know that, due to a burst pipe on the school grounds, we will need to close Tameside Primary Academy for one day on Wednesday 29 April.

The issue is outside and has not affected the school buildings. However, following advice from Severn Trent, we have been asked to keep the site clear while they carry out essential clean-up work and repairs.

We are expecting this to be resolved quickly and anticipate reopening as normal the following day. That said, we will keep a close eye on progress and will provide an update on Wednesday afternoon, or sooner if possible, to confirm arrangements. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Friday 1st May is our annual Pink Day! We take great pride in supporting Libbie-Mae's Angels who are a wonderful local charity who support babies, families and incredible local neonatal teams across our region. Please help us support this great charity and raise as much money as we can.

As part of our commitment to our children and families, last week we had a coffee morning with exploring all things anxiety based. The session was well attended and gave very practical and proactive solutions to very real problems. Thank you to our wonderful families for attending; to our great guest speakers for their support and to everyone else who made this session happen.

Swimming at Tameside is here again!

At Tameside, we take swimming seriously. Our pop up pool arrived last week and will be here until the end of May. The pool provides great opportunities for the children in Key Stage 2 to learn the vital life skill of swimming. The pool also helps support the children's fitness for the future, physical safeguarding, mental health and well being and will also provide a means for social interaction into adult life.

Take a look at the children in action using this great resource.
