Multi award winning SING AND SIGN baby signing classes in Amersham, Berkhamsted, Chesham and Hemel Hemsted

Hi, I'm Rachel and I fell in love with Sing and Sign when attending classes with my own children. I could write pages upon pages why Sing and Sign is the best and most beneficial activity for you and your baby, but for me it comes down to a few simple things. You WILL be able to communicate with your baby before they can talk. (How amazing is that?!)
Signing DOES stop tantrums and your baby gettin

🎥✨ A brilliant idea from one of our Sing and Sign mums!

When her little ones started nursery, she made a short video showing the signs they use at home - and shared it with nursery staff.

👋🏻 Even if staff are familiar with baby signing, seeing your child’s unique versions can make a real difference. Her eldest used to sign ‘cat’ 🐈‍⬛ under her chin, and ‘sweet’ became their family sign for ‘yummy’ 😋 - beautiful examples of how signing grows with your child ☺️

💗 Such a lovely way to support communication and confidence in new settings

💡 If your little one uses signs, why not try making a video to share with nursery or family? It’s simple, personal, and helps everyone understand your child’s voice.

📄 And don’t forget - Sing and Sign offers an easy print facility to help you create a clear, friendly document showing the signs your child uses. It’s a brilliant way to support nursery staff and make sure your little one’s voice is truly heard.

THANK-YOU to this wonderful mum for sharing her video - we love seeing your little ones signing! Tag us or send your videos in… we’d be thrilled to celebrate them with you ☺️

Top Tip Tuesday…. What does your baby love and engage with? ❤️ If you observe your little one closely you’ll see, just like us adults, there are things they are more drawn to than others.

🤩 If they’re excited by something, they’ll be more motivated to use the sign, so incorporate signs for those things into your baby signing as well as the signs that are most useful to you.

Using signs for animals 🐶🐷🦁🐵🦆🐸🐴, vehicles 🚙🚒🚲🚜✈️🚂 and people 👵👦👨‍🦳👶 can often really engage your baby and give them the tools to tell you what they’re excited about.

What signs does your baby use to tell you what they love? 😍

Tuesday’s Top Tip 😁….. If you’re new to Sing and Sign, maybe you’re feeling excited about all the signs you’ve seen and are keen to use them or maybe you’re not sure where to start! 🤔

Or maybe you and your little one have been doing Sing and Sign classes for a term or two already and perhaps you’re now feeling tempted to use lots of signs together. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Whatever your stage• KEEP IT SIMPLE •

Our golden rule of one sign per spoken sentence will draw your baby’s attention to the most important word, helping them to understand more of what you’re saying and helping them to make connections between words, signs and their meaning. Remember baby signs are visual signposts for words 😊 Simplicity is key!

Why sign with your baby? 👶💬

👩‍🍼 Baby signing helps little ones understand that communication isn’t just noise - it’s a meaningful way to express needs, feelings, and experiences. Whether it’s “milk,” “more,” or something as profound as “ouch” and “home,” signing gives babies a voice before they have words

🧠 Research by R. Thompson et al., shared via the National Institutes of Health, found that babies who learned signs had fewer episodes of crying and tantrums. A calmer, more connected start to life? Yes please!

First week and lots of signs and new themes being covered in class 🙌

Remember if this is your first term, to introduce the signs slowly.
It’s better to use 1 sign consistently all week, rather than lots only a couple of times.

Tuesday’s Top Tip…..

At Sing and Sign, our aim is to encourage speech. 😊

We use signs to highlight key words in our spoken sentences and to help babies and toddlers make connections between words, objects, people and activities.

Remember to always say the word (or make the noise of the animal or vehicle) when you sign - never sign in silence.

You’ll probably notice that you start to emphasise the key word too as signing naturally slows your speech down around that word and that draws attention to it even more!🙌
