At the Co-operative childcare nurseries, we never underestimate how difficult a decision it is to leave your child in the care of others and our aim is to ensure that you have all the information you need to make this very important decision. ming atmosphere. There are 3 rooms within our nursery split into the following age groups: One room for 3 months-20 months, one room for 20 months -3 year olds and one room for 3-5 year olds. The older two age groups operate in a free flow environment allowing them access to all areas of learning at all times. The nursery has its own garden area which has a separate area for the 3-20 month olds, allowing the younger children to access the outdoor areas. The garden has a protective canopy so that the children can access the outdoors whatever the weather.

💚Eco-Schools 2026-2027 Distinction Green Flag Award!💚

This year, children and staff members at Watford South have demonstrated outstanding leadership in championing sustainability and early years environmental education. Their passion, creativity, and commitment to creating positive environmental impact have been recognised with Eco‑Schools Green Flag accreditation with a Distinction, which celebrates excellence in environmental education and action.🐛

Eco-Schools England Manager, Adam Flint, said: “Young children care deeply about their local communities and our planet. They show a natural curiosity about animals, are fascinated by plant life, and naturally want to take action that makes things better. When nurseries engage with the Eco‑Schools programme, they not only make an immediate difference, they also nurture this early interest in the environment, laying strong foundations for a sustainability journey that can last a lifetime.” 🌳

We’re also delighted to share that the Eco-Schools Programme is officially aligned to the UNESCO Greening Education Partnership Green School Quality Standard. This means that we are recognised as a UNESCO-aligned Green School, contributing to the Greening Education Partnership objectives.🍀

A fantastic morning celebrating our wonderful leavers of 2026 ❤️
Thank you to everyone who attended- parents, friends, grandparents, neighbours... it was lovely to see so many of you there!
We wish our wonderful children the very best with their next exciting journey to big school!

🚗🚌Transport Week!🏍️🚂

Butterflies have taken a huge interest in the world of Transport, so they have decided to make it their theme for this week, which has gone down a treat!
They have been discussing how we get to and from different places, what types of transport we see more often than others and the big question- what's everybody's favourite type of transport?!

The team created some wonderful activities using a huge range of materials and resources- from car painting and drawing🚗, to making their own boats using sponges and art sticks (which float amazingly)⛵️ to having their own car wash in the garden! 🧽🪣

🌞Heatwave Week!🌞

WOW... what a hot week it's been for everyone!

The colleagues have been incredible providing relaxing, cool and resting activities for the children to enjoy- all while melting themselves! From Spa experiences to Paddling Pool fun and every type of water play- we had made the most out of a very hot week!

We can't say thank you enough to our wonderful colleagues for persevering through this heat and maintaining our outstanding level of care for our children! Enjoy your very well deserved weekend guys!💛

🐶🐱🐦Happy National Pet Day!🐰🐹🐠

Today Pre-school celebrated all of the weird and wonderful pets that we love and call our own. They started off by creating the story of Dear Zoo- they painted different boxes and then matched the shape and size of the animals to them. They spent all morning retelling the story to one another, using their props and deciding which animals they would like most as pets!

In the afternoon, they made their own pet shop using the different animal puppets and soft toys brought in from home. They loved sharing their own photos of the pets they have at home and in their families, they did a show and tell to explain who they were and why they are special💙

Wow, wow, wow...I am lost for words at this years colleague outfits! What an incredible team we are, we really do love a dress up day at Watford South! The amount of time, love and effort you have all put into your outfits today is beyond outstanding! You all make this team what is it and show up everyday ready to deliver the highest quality of teaching there is to our children! Absolutely phenomenal, every single one of you!💛

World Book Day 2026📖
Activities edition!

Today has been filled with incredible themed activities!

Baby room's focus today was The Hungry Caterpillar! They started the day with having a fruit frenzy taste test! Everyone tried all of the different fruits from the book just like the Caterpillar! They didn't eat leaves after though, we promise!🤣
Then later in the day, they made their own Caterpillar using paper plates; they painted them independently and now they are going around the room feeding him lots of different role play food!

Toddler room's focus today was The Gruffalo! They have been learning about the story throughout the week and have already done some amazing activities. They made their own Gruffalo Cafe where everyone made their own Roasted Fox, Owl Ice cream and Scrambled Snake! I hope they get 5 stars from EHO!🤣
They then used the Gruffalo to host a garden talk, where they discussed how privates are private with the PANTS book & Pantosaurus.

Pre-school's focus today was Alice and Wonderland and the power of free play reading. Everyone had the chance to stand at the front of the class and read from their favourite stories. This promotes independence and confidence which our children most certainly have🤣For tea, they hosted a Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Everyone made white rabbit ears which they laid out on the tables.

It truly is one of our favourite days here at Watford South, we are so invested in little readers and the power of reading💙
