Friday
Task 1: Visit my favourite charity, who we are raising money for during the event, Watford Women's Centre, Market Street, Watford. I was greeted with a big hug from my dear friend Sunita, the centre's Career Advisor plus. I collect the banner and some informational leaflets for their stand at the event.

Task 2: Drop by the local printers to confirm order for exhibition banner and posters.

Task 3: Visited Abbots Langley High Street business owners who have generously donated either a gift or voucher for a service and took photos of the shops and some of the owners [many owners refused to have picture take as do not want to be in the limelight]. I will be posting pictures and details of our sponsors shortly.

4. Visited any Abbots Langley High Street business owners whom I had not yet approached. Got two more sponsors: the hardware store and the electrical store.

5. Visited our beautiful venue Hunton Park Hotel, Hunton Bridge, Kings Langley, with our Event Manager- Jessica Vaughan to meet with our excellent hotel event coordinator: Zaneta Adisa. This was a great meeting and everything on the check list ticked off.

I had an outstanding day which left me feeling so good about the path I am on.

'It's My Turn'
...was inspired by my recent health scare. While I recovered in the hospital, I vowed to do what I really wanted to do.

I really wanted to bring women together to celebrate their strength and embrace their power to carve out the next stage of their lives.

The event is also inspired by the spirit of my mother, Beryl Baird, who came to Britain as part of the Windrush generation.

She worked as a seamstress in a factory by day and made wedding dresses and suits in the evenings and weekends.

Somehow, she raised 6 of us children on her own and bought a house!

She also supported other women moving to Britain, teaching them to cook and encouraging them to get an education and make their own money.

This was the spirit of connection, of collaboration and community. This is what women have always done to strengthen and support each other.

Nowadays, we can take up our place in the world, but no one achieves anything great on their own.

We do it fuelled by the energy and strength of others. Together, we can do more.
