What would you have done in your driving test?

Make sure you’re aware of the rules of the road. Revision before your driving test is key. Don’t just think about it as a practical test - make sure you have the knowledge to understand what is & isn’t allowed.

When driving in slow moving traffic or waiting in a queue, it’s important to be aware of motorbikes, cyclists, scooters etc.

They might be passing through on your left or your right & sometimes they can be very close to you.

Whether they should be there or not, is another matter.
But if they are there, it’s important you’re aware of them so you can help to keep yourself & others safe.

Keep an eye on your door mirrors & if you see one coming up, think whether you should let them pass before moving off or if you can allow extra room.

Every time I do a driving anxiety lesson it’s due to having a passenger like this.

Don’t be the reason someone has anxiety!

Just because you might take a particular gap, or you might take a particular route, doesn’t mean the driver has to.

Let the driver make their own decisions.
Encourage, support them & be kind! 😊

I’m calling out bad instructor behaviour!

Why?
Well sometimes it’s hard to know what’s “normal” behaviour during a driving lesson as it’s only ever you in the car with your instructor and you may not have experienced any other instructor.

Whoever is sitting in the passenger seat with you when you’re on a provisional licence is bound by all the same rules as drivers meaning it is illegal to use a mobile phone.

For a professional driving instructor to be on the phone during your lesson is not just illegal but is unprofessional & shows an extreme lack of customer service!

If this is happening to you on your driving lessons - call them out on it, or send them this video!

Warning signs are there for a reason.

It might not be there when you drive on that part of the road for the first time, the second time or the first few years, but doesn’t mean it will never happen!

ALWAYS anticipate would COULD happen or what MIGHT be there and adjust your speed accordingly to help keep not just yourself safe, but others around you 😊
