The Dan Tien is a non profit, multi-award winning performing arts school based in Watford. We offer classes in dance, drama and music from our purpose built studio for children aged 3 - 18.

We are delighted to share the news that Charli has gained a place on the Musical Theatre degree course at Royal Central London and will begin training in September. Charli is a such a dedicated and committed performer and we knew big things were in store, it was only a matter of time. The wait has been excruciating but it’s amazing to now be able to share this brilliant news. Huge congratulations from all of us Charli, you deserve this!

It was a busy day at the studio today as a number of our students took their tap exams. Preparing for a dance exam takes such dedication and commitment, with hours of lessons at the studio and home practice too. Congratulations to our wonderful dancers, we are so proud of you! 👏

It was our last MT company class of the year today and we had time for solo rep. Amelia performed I Know It’s Today from and…well I’ll let it speak for itself! Amelia is no stranger to the professional stage having already had 2 professional theatre contracts. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes her.

We’re HUGE musical theatre fans at DT, and the passion and work begins in our Infant Musical Theatre classes. In Amy’s class we’ve been learning from and using it to develop our skills in acting through song. Today Gabrielle got up in front of her class to show us what she’s learnt. Last week we held our end-of-year concert with one of our partner schools . Just look at all these wonderful musicians! The children all played and sung beautifully, and for some of them this was their very first experience of performing to an audience. Thank you to our team of teachers who dedicate so much of their time to bringing music into the lives of so many children. We can’t wait to hear your progress next year. Bravi!

Yesterday we took our Dance and Musical Theatre Company students to perform at a collaborative event with our good friends . It was a wonderful opportunity to share our Hades show piece with a wider audience and, from the comments we received afterwards, I think it’s safe to say they smashed it!
