Happy new year to you all!
Many people see this time of year as a bright new start, a new slate as they say. For some children though this can be a very uncertain period; theyโve lost their learning routine and may face anxiety at the prospect of returning to school. In my tutoring sessions we can focus on rebuilding their confidence, preparing them for a new term and going over previous learning to boost their self esteem and future learning. There are activities to help them move on successfully too; we can make time capsules, goals for the year, self-reflection lists and conversations - no one said it couldnโt be fun!
Nearing the festive period we are all getting ready for plays at school, excitement with friends and that fleeting chance of snow. One of my tutees has a main part to practice for, and my drama skills are being put to the test, thank heavens for those LAMDA exams now!
