One of my favourite things to do with the ponies is work at liberty! If you’re interested, take a look at these two 40 second clips- The first clip is from today, the second clip was taken roughly 9 months ago (it was the first session I was happy enough with our progress to film, but we had been working long before this!). Our progress has certainly taken time, but I’m so proud of what we have achieved so far!! Hoping for a seamless routine very soon, and we are in the process of introducing some new tricks, but I am so pleased watching the difference between these videos and seeing the change!!

And finally, a bit more of a serious post… (photo unrelated🙈)
As a lot of you will have seen, there have been some cases of strangles in the area. I have a duty of care to inform you all that one of the yards with a known case is one of my clients- however, as mentioned in my previous post, I have been working away from the horses for the last month, so would like to reassure everyone I have not been in contact with any known cases and will not be returning to the yard until they are given the all clear 🙏🏻
The yard management are handling the situation as well as possible- with horses, sometimes despite every precaution, these things are unavoidable! I’m wishing all horses affected a speedy recovery and the yard team a smooth and stress-free time as possible ❤️🩹
Even though I have not directly been in contact with any known cases, I will still be taking the necessary precautions with knowing it is in the area and the risk of contact with non symptomatic carriers -
I have purchased a large amount of antibacterial, and in line with guidelines, between each yard visit I will be-
- Thoroughly cleaning and dipping my boots
- Changing any outer layers of clothing and keeping used clothes in separate sealed carrier bags
- Liberally disinfecting waterproof clothing
- Liberally disinfecting and regularly cleaning my car interior
- Changing gloves and consistent handwashing
- Refrain from wearing my hat for now (this is going to be the hardest part 😂)
I hope this helps to put everyone’s minds at ease 🙏🏻 While there is always some risk in this line of work, I’m doing everything I can to minimise it and keep both horses and people safe 🫶🏻
Thank you 💜

Now let me tell you about my most rewarding experience to date 💜
Meet Kate and her herd!! Please be prepared for a very long post- but worth the read I promise 🫶🏻
I have been blessed to work with these beautiful horses (and wonderful human!) regularly for the last 2 years, not just doing the everyday chores but also having the amazing opportunity to learn and work alongside a natural horsemanship trainer to prepare them for a huuuge journey. It has been absolutely incredible to watch them grow, their personalities flourish, their confidence build and how far they have all come…. I absolutely adore all of my clients, but these guys hold a very special place in my heart- seeing first hand the change in them all has been amazing. Not only did I get to have a hand in teaching them, but they have taught me immeasurable amounts too- it has been an incredible learning experience and I have completely changed the way I handle horses thanks to these 4 ❤️
So, ask me 2 years ago when I first met these ponies if I thought they would get on a lorry for a 4 day trip across 3 countries- I would’ve looked at you like you were crazy…. And I did look at Kate like she was crazy 🤣 But Kate, myself and Annette (our trainer) worked so hard to make the transition as easy as possible for the horses, so much groundwork, changes in environment, confidence building exercises, lorry loading practice (none of them would even go near the horse box when we started let alone a 27 ton lorry 😵💫) and so on and so forth.
I have to give a huge shout out to Kate because every step of the way she has done so right by her herd, it’s impossible to make the right choice all the time but she has absolutely got it spot on with every choice and training opportunity 🤩
So- a few weeks ago the fabulous Gemma from came to pick up the ponies and start their journey to their new home… and all the training paid off ❤️ all 4 got straight on the lorry and over to their Kent base ready for the Dover Calais crossing! From there it was smooth sailing on a three day journey through France to SPAIN, where the horses arrived happy, healthy and calm ready to start their new life in their Spanish home with their new Spanish herd ❤️
Gemma and John Parker were absolutely phenomenal throughout this whole journey, Gemma had such meticulous care and attention to absolutely everything and genuinely cared so much about the horses (and her lorry 🤩). I can’t thank her enough for being kind enough to let me and Ben come for a ride for the last stretch of the journey, being lucky enough to be in the horse lorry when they arrived at their destination 🥰 I learnt and saw so much on this leg of the journey, and I can say with absolute confidence if anyone has any travel needs John Parker is your company 🤩
The horses also outdid themselves when travelling, thanks to Gemma and her cosy lorry they all travelled amazingly and were so chilled and relaxed every step of the way!! We knew they were in good hands from the moment we met Gemma, and truly knew all the hard work everyone put in had paid off when they stepped on to the lorry with no problems whatsoever and remained as calm for every stop over and reload 🥰
These four ponies and Kate have given me an opportunity and experience of a lifetime…. Even before the journey began I had been rewarded and equally challenged by these four…. they haven’t always been easy, all 4 came to Kate as they couldn’t mentally/physically do the jobs their owners wanted them to do- and Kates only goal was to make them as happy and comfortable as possible - and now they continue to be absolutely outdoing all expectations and I cannot put into words how proud and grateful I am for each of them.
It broke my heart to leave them behind, but I know with absolute certainty they are about to be living their best lives, being cared for by the most amazing owner who always has their best interests at heart, and making friends with another beautiful Spanish herd ❤️
I feel so honoured to have been a part of their journey, this experience has been one to remember forever and I am so excited to come back and see them 🥲
I told you it would be a long post!
Please now enjoy some photos of the journey, and a little trip down memory lane of some of my favourite moments with the herd ❤️

So! Let’s catch up…..
As a lot of you may know, my workload became a lot for me over the summer, and I almost hit a breaking point… I love my job, but I was burning out and really having a tough time, so I decided to take a little time away from the horses and do an entirely different job for a month in order to give myself time to rest and recover ready for winter!!
I am now home and back to working with the horses 🥰
But over this month, I have realised I need to adjust some parts of my business to make it more efficient…. This job has never really been about the money for me, but equally I need to be able to make a living, and I’m sure everyone knows this all too well but with the prices of everything rising it has become much more difficult to do 😩
So, please take note of some of my new ideas; obviously it is very hard to plan without putting into practice so please bear with me while I figure out how to best make this work, but my initial ideas are as shown in the post as the caption was too long otherwise 🙈
As always, thank you all for your continued support 💜
