These are some of our favourite photos from our Christmas party. We had a lovely time with most of our children. We want to thank everyone that has support supported Fols Kids SEN Club in 2022. It has been such a pleasure getting to know these children. We truly appreciate their individual uniqueness. We look forward to witnessing and supporting their development on this journey we are on together.

Have you ever wondered what the free play segment of our sessions look like?
During this segment of our sessions we give the children the freedom to explore whatever sensory or play activity best stimulates, regulates or entertains them. Each week we add a new experience for them to explore.

At Fols Kids SEN Club we have been encouraging the children to take part in group activities. Integrated group play can help develop a child's social cue processing. We have found that the children have done really well with sharing and turn-taking. The team have done a good job explaining the importance of caring and respecting each other. We will continue with this lesson this Saturday.

New Friends. New Memories.
Last week we worked on developing the children's Fine Motor Skills.
The activities involved working small muscles, brain and the nervous system. The development of fine motor skills are essential for writing and daily life skills like eating and getting dressed. We were impressed with how well they done and the patience shown to keep trying until the tasks were completed ⭐️

We have made the decision to cancel the club tomorrow (10th Sept) and postpone reuniting with the children to Saturday Sept 17th.

We had an awesome Summer term! We thought we would share some of our best bits with you. We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the children and their families, supporting them in their journey, watching them engaging in stimulating activities and the friendships that have been formed in the process.
We look forward to resuming our sessions on Saturday 10th September.

Last week the children loved parachute play outdoors.
They especially enjoyed when it was their turn to sit or lie in the middle while we celebrated them and their cooperation through the use of music.
Parachute play is a great way to
- Reinforces turn-taking and sharing
- Teaches kids to follow directions
- Develops a sense of rhythm
- Promotes communication and language skills
- Encourages cooperation
At Fols Kids Saturday SEN Club we had a water play session which the children were thrilled with.
We use water play as a tool in supporting the children in their developmental journey.
It's the simple things... Like Ice lollies, sunshine and new friends to share in the good times.
We look forward to welcoming our children back after this Saturday. As the weather heats up we have a lot of fun plans to keep us cool.

When we say messy play, we mean messy!!
The children absolutely loved getting stuck into the foam along with other messy play activities this week at Fols Kids Saturday SEN Club.
Sensory play is a great way to stimulate the brain, creating neutral pathways and improving sensory processing systems. Working in small groups with sensory play improves social skills such as communication and co-operation.

Physical and Sensory Benefits
Having space to play outside stimulates and encourages children with sensory sensitivities to explore all of their senses. Good play areas develop both gross and fine motor skills. They help children to improve mobility and coordination, the vestibular system (balance) and proprioception (body awareness and spatial skills).

This event is in association with and it is a great for those looking for information and direction pre or post diagnosis, or those that could be facing daily challenges, or approaching significant transition points. The Autism Show may be able to help you as there are over 100 hours of talks, clinics and workshops plus hundreds of specialist products and services.
Once inside the event, all content is free to access and CPD certified for professionals.

Like Autism, those with ADHD are all different. Different traits, struggles and ways of coping.
We seek to educate to raise awareness and end misconceptions so that those who may have special needs are not prejudged as a "type of person" but are given the opportunity to be known for who they are, including their personalities, abilities and uniqueness.

Picnic, Play & Plenty of Fun.
This week we encouraged the children to sit down outside to enjoy their snacks while we spoke to them about anything they wanted.
Even though most of the children preferred to continue their playtime.
Fun fact: We never force the children to behave a certain way. We provide safe options, we encourage and we praise. We acknowledge this is their time to relax, have fun and be who they are

The Chang &Chang, 2018 study found that outdoor activities provide 7 main benefits to children with autism, including promoting communication, emotion, cognition, interaction, physical activity, and decreasing autistic sensitivity.
As the weather warms up we aim to make the most of our lovely outdoor space. Our session on Saturday was no exception 😎
