Dear Parents

Apologies for not posting for a while but I know you’re kept updated via Tapestry and email.

It’s been an extremely busy time with lots going on. The children have been really interested in our Curiosity Box which led to many conversations about Autumn, Diwali. Fireworks and Remembrance Day!

As you know we’ve slso been promoting Healthy Eating this term and talking to the children about the importance of oral hygiene 😊

Another big thank you for helping us raise £273.87 for ‘Wear Pink for Breast Cancer Day!”

This week is a busy one with Photograph Day tomorrow, National Nursery Rhyme Week and Road Safety Week !

Dear Parents/Carers

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the amazing gifts we received at the end of term. We are all extremely grateful for your generosity!! 🙂 We would also like to wish all those children who are moving on from pre-school the very best of luck in your future. You will all be amazing!!!

Over this last half term we have particularly covered Understanding of the World and the children have been so interested in watching how things grow, how the chicks hatched and the lifecycle of a butterfly. Not to mention a wonderful visit from the Ark Farm.

We have also been introducing the children to Oral Hygiene and food/drinks which contain a lot of sugar etc.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer break and look forward to seeing some of you back in September and welcoming our new children!!

Take care.

Dear Parents

Thank you all so much for the contribution of seeds you made to our 'Gardening Week'!! As you can see from the pictures the children (and staff) had a wonderful time planting them :)

Dear Parents

I hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather this weekend. Just a reminder that next week is 'Gardening Week'. The children are more than welcome to bring in seeds or bulbs to plant.

This week the children have worked really hard building their own obstacle course which involved lots of working together and critical thinking - changing things around when they didn't work out.

They are also doing really well with their Makaton signing picking it up much quicker than the adults!! 🙂 We will be sending out a sign of the week as well so that you can learn along with them.

Photos from St Michaels Pre-School's post 03/04/2021

I would like to wish all our Families a very Happy & Healthy Easter.🙂 It's been a short but busy half-term. We are now looking forward to the Summer term where the children can explore our new Bug Hotel, Worm Farm and our chick hatching programme amongst many other things!!

We will be returning to pre-school on Tuesday 13th April 2021.

Dear Parents

I hope you are all staying safe and well. I just thought I'd have a quick catch up with you before we start a new half-term. I would also like to welcome our new children Alexandra, Charlie, Daithi and Harry who have all settled in very well.

We have once again had a very busy half term with lots of play and learning going on. The children have been exploring numbers, different sounds (s, a, t, i) and undertaking lots of experiments with ice, making rainbow clouds etc as you will have seen on Tapestry.

We are missing the children who are not attending at the moment and hope to see you all soon. We hope you enjoyed the Activity Bags that we sent out to you and are engaging in the activities posted on Tapestry.

This week our Dragonfly and Ladybird groups will be looking at the letter 'p' and all groups will be engaging in fun Physical activities. Our theme over the next couple of weeks is 'People Who Help Us'

Our pictures show just some of what we have been doing this last half-term.

Dear Parents

I just wanted to take this opportunity to tell you how amazing all your children are and how well they have adapted to the small changes we have had to make during these strange times!!

I hope you all have a Happy Christmas and a safe, happy and healthy New Year.

This video makes us emotional every time we see it 💕💕🎄🎄🎄

Dear Parents

I hope you're all enjoying the half-term week. It's been an extremely busy first half term and the children have all settled in amazingly well in these strange times. As you may know from my emails we have now started our small group time (Literacy and Maths) with the Nursery children. We are using Letters & Sounds Phase 1 - a copy of which has been sent out to you via email. We are also doing lots of finger strengthening exercises such as dough disco and funky fingers to help with the children's pre-writing skills.

This half term the children have had lots of fun exploring textures such as cornflour, learning about Autumn, icing biscuits, baking cakes and making 'Mummy Jars' for Halloween.

Next week we will be talking about fireworks (danger etc), exploring/mixing colours and paint splashing. Our letter of the week is S, number is 1, colour blue and shape circle.

Have a lovely weekend.

[08/31/20]   I hope you are all staying safe and well. We can’t wait to welcome you all back to pre-school. Also a big welcome to our new children Ada, Amber, Caelan, Dylan, Eddie, Lacey, Lawson, Ruby, Ryan and Sophia.

I thought many of you might identify with this poem which I copied from another page. So many mixed emotions❤️

'Twas the night before school
When all through the house
Not a creature was stirring except for this spouse!

Schoolbags sat by the front door with care
She had bathed the kids and blow dried their hair
Lunches were made and shoes had been shined
"I hope they don't catch it" raced through her mind

The children were sleeping fast in their beds
With dreams of reunions with all their friends
Where classes are bubbles and tables are pods
Their safety in the hands of the "government gods"

When down in the kitchen arose such a clatter,
Husband ran down to see what was the matter.
Away to the kitchen he flew like a light
His wife sat crying at the table
he knew something was not right
"I want them to go but I want them to stay
I want this virus to just go away" 😢

For the first time in months her bubble had burst
She thought she'd feel happier but now she feels worse
The 'what-ifs' were racing around in her mind
Her husband hugged her and tried to be kind

We've waited for this day for schools to reopen
But the mixture of change and fear had her quite frozen
She feigned a smile and sipped on her tea
And persuaded herself "I'll have more time for me"

But six months has passed
The country none the wiser
Schoolbags now packed with masks and hand sanitizer

But this is a good thing, for schools to reopen
The children deserve it, its what they've been hoping
Children of England have shown such resilience
Positive attitude and absolute brilliance!

You might feel nervous or perhaps feel okay
To release your babies back to school today
But whatever you feel know it's not for forever
We'll get through this and we'll get through together ❤

Take care and Stay Safe ❤️

For those with children who may find it hard to explain what is going on, this makes a lovely bedtime story. 💤

The Time We Spring-Cleaned the World 🌱

The world it got so busy,
There were people all around.
They left their germs behind them;
In the air and on the ground.

These germs grew bigger and stronger.
They wanted to come and stay.
They didn’t want to hurt anyone -
They just really wanted to play.

Sometimes they tried to hold your hand,
Or tickled your throat or your nose.
They could make you cough and sneeze
And make your face as red as a rose.

And so these germs took over.
They started to make people ill,
And with every cough we coughed
More and more germs would spill.

All the queens and kings had a meeting.
“It’s time to clean the world up!” they said.
And so they had to close lots of fun stuff,
Just so these germs couldn’t spread.

We couldn’t go to cinemas
Or restaurants for our tea.
There was no football or parties,
The world got as quiet as can be.

The kids stopped going to school,
The mums and dads went to work less.
Then a great, big, giant scrubbing brush
Cleaned the sky and the sea and the mess!

Dads started teaching the sums,
Big brothers played with us more,
Mums were in charge of homework
And we read and played jigsaws galore!

The whole world was washing their hands
And building super toilet roll forts!
Outside was quiet and peaceful,
Now home was the place for all sports.

So we played in the world that was home
And our days filled up with fun and love,
And the germs they grew smaller and smaller
And the sun watched from up above.

Then one morning the sun woke up early,
She smiled and stretched her beams wide.
The world had been fully spring cleaned,
It was time to go back outside!

We opened our doors oh so slowly
And breathed in the clean and fresh air.
We promised thar forever and always
Of this beautiful world we’d take care! 💕
