The 11+ can be a lot for children to carry emotionally, not just academically.

That’s why our Summer School (10th–13th August, mornings, Ascot Road Primary School) isn’t just three days of revision and test practice. Day four is led by a qualified therapist, with mindfulness, art-based therapy and space for children to talk through any worries about the test, plus practical techniques they can use on the day itself.

It’s all about helping children go into September feeling prepared and calm, not just drilled.

📘 11+ Mock Examinations – South West Herts 11+ South West Herts Consortium

Is your child in Year 5 and preparing for the South West Herts Consortium 11+ test this September?

Build confidence with our professionally written mock exams, designed to closely reflect the format and difficulty of the real tests. Pupils will complete Maths and Verbal Reasoning papers under timed exam conditions at a real test venue, helping them develop familiarity, accuracy, and exam technique.

Each session provides detailed feedback to support targeted revision, and two different sets of papers are available across the two dates.

This half term, our founder Imogen Bancroft had the privilege of attending the National Tutors’ Conference organised by The Tutors’ Association, of which Cedar Tree Tuition is a corporate member.

The event offered a wide range of CPD opportunities, from workshops on the latest tutoring strategies, assessment techniques, and personalised learning approaches, to sessions on supporting students with additional learning needs. Imogen also joined discussions on innovative teaching tools, curriculum development, and ways to make tutoring even more effective.

Alongside the formal sessions, the conference provided invaluable networking opportunities, allowing Imogen to connect with fellow tutors, share experiences, and learn from best practices across the sector. It was a great reminder of how much there is to learn and how collaboration strengthens the tutoring community.

We’re excited to bring these insights back to our children and tutors to continue improving the support we provide.

Some fantastic art by a handful of our lovely children who took part in our August Summer school this year.

Well-being is integral to our approach across Years 4 and 5, with kind and empathetic teachers and teaching assistants playing a key role.

Led by a qualified children’s therapist, day 4 of our August summer school involves discussing feelings, how our brains and minds work, as well as mental strategies for preparing for the examinations and the challenges of life!

Expressing positive affirmations through a personal piece of art is also something the children really enjoy, and is a lovely way to wind down after an intense week of revision.

It’s the last stretch for children sitting the exams on Saturday 6th September. All of us at Cedar Tree Tuition would like to wish the amazing kids in our
cohort and all those sitting the exams the best of luck ✨✨✨
