🥔 We’ve had a great time at Clanfield, celebrating potato week and exploring the wonderful world of potatoes! 🥔
As ‘Grow our own produce in our garden and use it to make a product’ is such an important part of our curriculum, the children have been learning where potatoes come from, how they grow and what happens from planting the seed potato right through to harvesting and eating them. 🌱👩🌾
The children have loved digging up and harvesting potatoes from our very own sensory garden and then using them to create our own delicious produce! We’ve been making potato nuggets, potato bites, potato salad and homemade crisps. 👩🍳🥔 There was lots of excitement (and some very tasty results!) as the children explored preparing and cooking their own food.
We’ve also been enjoying the much-loved story ‘Supertato’ 🦸♂️🥔. The children created their very own Supertato and took part in lots of exciting sensory activities inspired by the story.
Our potatoes haven’t just been for eating! 🎨 We’ve explored them creatively through potato printing and we also used potatoes to make interesting marks and prints in playdough, encouraging the children to explore texture, shape and creativity.
What a wonderful week of growing, learning, cooking, creating and exploring! 🌱🥔👩🍳🎨
